Pine Needle Basket Coiling
Instructor: Carol Busto Use long pine needles, thread, and sewing needles to create a coiled basket that is a work of art. Designed for beginner and intermediate coilers, beginners will learn basic techniques and skills with all materials provided while intermediate students enjoy a loosely structured opportunity to learn advanced techniques. Shibori Dying Techniques (Ages 15+)
Instructor: Kathryn Sullivan Shibori is the ancient Japanese style of resist dying using binding techniques. Explore different techniques of resist dying such as stitching (touch of mokume), pole wrapping, binding, and clamping. Saturdays, April 22 & 29, 10am-12pm Cost: $45, plus $35 materials fee. Students must also bring 2 yards of cellulose (plant) fabric such as cotton (recommended), hemp, soy, rayon, bamboo, and/or linen, as well as two spools of non-flavored dental floss.
Batik
Instructor: Celeste Miller PMC is a versatile, easy-to-use material that allows anyone to make real silver jewelry in a matter of hours. PMC is a clay-like material that contains actual silver powder and a non-toxic binding material. This class will cover mold making and the fundamentals of working with PMC to include forming, firing, & finishing. Students will leave class with at least 2 pendants or earrings. Intro to Wire Wrapping

Instructor: Kathryn Sullivan Batik is an ancient form of resist dying that uses wax to block the dye from certain areas. Make batik samples by painting with wax resist on cotton. Instructor: Pat Whitlow The Japanese art of Kumihimo braiding is an easy technique used to make cords on a round loom. Drawing Dragons (Grades 1-5) Instructor: Young Rembrandts Don’t fight dragons! Draw them! In this exciting workshop, students will learn the skills and techniques to draw these mythical creatures. They’ll complete a large poster of a fiery dragon while learning to create cartoon characters and stories with dragons as the theme. Beginner to Intermediate Drawing for Youth Instructor: Young Rembrants Do you love to draw or want to learn to draw better? Drawing not only provides the basis for other creative activities like painting and sculpture, but it also provides a direct link to reading, writing, and mathematics. Explore: Palette Knife Painting (Ages 9-13) Instructor: Sabrina Cordovana Using thick paint, learn techniques on how to layer, shape, and move paint with a palette knife to create original works of art. Instructor: Kathryn Sullivan Shibori is the ancient Japanese style of resist dying using binding techniques. Explore different techniques of resist dying such as stitching (touch of mokume), pole wrapping, binding, and clamping. Saturdays, June 3 & 10, 10am-12pm Cost: $45, plus $20 materials fee. Students must also bring 2 yards of cellulose (plant) fabric such as cotton (recommended), hemp, soy, rayon, bamboo, and/or linen, as well as two spools of non-flavored dental floss.

Teen Wheel Throwing

Printmaking for Kids (Ages 6-11) Instructor: Kathryn Sullivan This crash-course for beginning young print makers will teach them different mono printing techniques with different textures, drawing, and collaging techniques. Students will also use Styrofoam trays to create an intaglio type technique. Cancellation of classes by CACGA Policy: If an insufficient number of registrations are received for any individual class a week before the class is to begin, the class will be canceled. Therefore, it is important to register early. If cancellation occurs, a full refund will be processed for those currently registered in the class. Online registration will be refunded by check.
