Throughout the county, spring sees the start of outdoor festivals and fairs - from music to food; art to theatre. Our grand stately homes host activities to mark the new season; and Easter is celebrated with egg hunts including those with the world’s most famous bunny, Peter Rabbit: born in the imagination of one of the Lake District’s bestknown authors, Beatrix Potter.
Summer
The sun is shining and the great outdoors awaits: the warmer weather and longer days offer plenty of opportunity to explore our natural landscapes.

Summer sees a whole host of events take place: there’s something on every week, from farmers markets to music festivals, agricultural shows to horse racing in Cartmel. It’s also a great time to experience the great outdoors. Explore our hiking trails and cycle paths; get out on the water with watersports like kayaking, sailing and stand up paddleboarding; and dine al fresco at our local pubs, restaurants and cafes. Head to the beach and relax in the sun, ice cream in hand. Enjoy family fun at attractions across the region.
Autumn
A chill in the air, crisp leaves underfoot, and hues of red, gold and orange painting the landscape: autumn in the Lake District is quite simply breathtaking.
