10 TH CURBSTONE ANNIVERSARY
2009
Unhappy with the track days they have attended, Patrick Van Glabeke and a couple of his friends decide to create Curbstone, their own track day organisation. Right from the outset the philosophy is clear-cut: to rent the best circuits, only accept powerful GT cars so that the speed difference between the cars will remain small, only accept a limited number of participants, focus on disciplined drivers and offer a decent lunch.
2011
Curbstone finds it hard to break even, and some of the original partners leave the company. Patrick Van Glabeke continues to believe in the concept and acquires 100% of the shares.
2013
Curbstone now has a calendar that includes more than ten visits to the legendary track of Spa-Francorchamps. The number of drivers rises to more than sixty and for the first time Curbstone attains break-even.

Curbstone takes its first steps, catering to ten to fifteen clients at each event. Already, the organisation is travelling to the best circuits in Europe, including some of the most famous Formula 1 TM tracks.

2012
Curbstone understands the needs of drivers during Track and Test Days and creates a partnership with Pirelli Motorsport, to ensure an impeccable tyre service for its clients.
2014
A new modern logo is created for Curbstone, which has become the market leader at Spa-Francorchamps. To improve its Track and Test Days even further, the decision is made to create separate GTRace and GT-Sport sessions.
Curbstone was not created in a day. To become Europe’s leading Track and Test Day organiser took hard work, plenty of effort and unrelenting enthusiasm. Over the years Curbstone has developed from a small initiative among friends to a continental – dare we say global? – standard-setter when it comes to organising track and test days. At every step in its development, the people behind Curbstone have kept one important aspect at the top of their to do-list: to meet the real needs of their customers. That is why in this anniversary season, Curbstone introduces three brand-new concepts: PRE-SEASON TEST DAYS, #ROADtoSPA and #ROADtoCASTELLET. But let us take you back in time, back to when the Curbstone story took off.
2015
The VIP hospitality standards rise even further. 2015 also sees the start of the joint venture with the SRO Motorsports Group and the RACB, so Curbstone moves into an office in Brussels.
2017
Curbstone introduces the SPA and AZUR 2-Hour Evening Sessions, to give its clients the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Spa and Le Castellet circuits.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the organisation in style, three new concepts are created: PRE-SEASON TEST DAYS, to start your testing season earlier than usual, #ROADtoSPA and #ROADtoCASTELLET, a season-long programme culminating at the iconic Central and Southern European race tracks.

Curbstone opens a second office at the Circuit Paul Ricard, Curbstone AZUR, which is key to becoming the market leader in Southern Europe. The organisation also enters into a partnership with BMW M.
2018
To respond even better to the needs of its clients, Curbstone enters into a partnership with fuel supplier ETS Racing Fuels and racing gear specialist Stand 21. The Curbstone Magazine sees its inaugural edition.

This Pre-Season Test offer is probably the ideal test platform, for many a reason. Not only because we have secured some strategic locations, where chances for adverse weather conditions are slim. But also because we have optimised the routing: you will not have to send your truck twice to bring the car to the track. The Curbstone Road has been developed to maximise the benefit in terms of transport, weather and locations. Most of the tests will include two days, which will double your test time. At each circuit Curbstone will offer the open pit lane format or optimised session time, and with an average of 20 cars accepted for each test, conditions will be perfect. Furthermore, there will be no track limits and you will be able to use the highest noise/dB limits for your car.
Obviously our usual services will be present as well: ETS Racing Fuels directly delivered at your box, Pirelli tyres service on site, hotel booking directly via Curbstone, VIP hospitality and catering, live timing… You don’t have to think about anything, Curbstone is there for you!

GT-SPORT DRIVERS
This programme is aimed at GT-Sport drivers with streetlegal GT or sports cars, or “slow” or classic race cars. It consists of a series of events throughout the year. At each event, we give our customers a unique driving experience at unique locations or events.
Among these events are GT-Sport-oriented occasions like La Terrasse des 24 heures (24 Hours of Spa) or La Terrasse du Castellet (1000 km of Castellet). Besides the renowed GT-Sport categories at Spa-Francorchamps and Circuit Paul Ricard, there will also be new locations such as Barcelona, Nordschleife, Lédenon and Magny-Cours.

Driving your GT or race car on circuit does not get any better than this. Have fun, feel safe, discover or test your car and let Curbstone take care of everything. On average we limit the participants to 45 streetlegal GT and sports cars for the GT-Sport sessions and 25 race cars for the GT-Race sessions. That way, nothing can come between you and your driving sensations on the track.

Get behind the wheel of your racing car on legendary F1, GT/LMP circuits in Europe and you will be in for one of your most intense Test Days in 2019. Total entrants are kept low (average 20 cars), so every driver can test his car’s limits in an open pit lane format.

THE BEST WAY TO EXPLORE THE CIRCUIT
Are you driving at a track for the first time? Or are you looking to test your new car prior to a Track and Test Day? Do you want to go flat-out on track in an enjoyable “After Work” format? Then look no further: with its 2-Hour Evening Sessions Curbstone provides you with an excellent format to do so.
Events of this kind can also be arranged privately and are ideal for clubs or owners of extraordinary cars.
Above all, though, you can bring your friends along and enjoy a unique evening together. And if you don’t feel like doing a full Track Day, or don’t have the time, this is the perfect solution as well. You can drive straight from the office to the track!
With a limited number of participants and the presence of Curbstone coaches, you will certainly get the most out of these 2-Hour Evening Sessions. And don’t worry, your car pictures are included!
This format is aimed at Petrolheads with street-legal, GT or sports cars, and “slow” race cars. These are the only cars accepted for these events. At this moment Curbstone offers the 2-Hour Evening Sessions at Spa-Francorchamps and Circuit Paul Ricard.

This winter training seminar and training services are provided by licensed instructors, including radio communication and one-on-one coaching. Sports cars provided by Curbstone include the 911 Carrera 2 and 4, GT3, classic, ...and Porsche 718 (Cayman & Boxster). There is a maximum of 8-9 cars, each shared by two drivers.
The flight package to Arvidsjaur, hotel accommodation in single room***, hosting and transfers between hotel and track, track rental fees and other services are all taken care of by Curbstone.

Ever since Curbstone became a joint venture with the SRO Motorsports Group and the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB), Europe’s best Track and Test have continued to thrive. In 2019 Curbstone celebrates its 10th Anniversary, so it’s time to catch up with Patrick Van Glabeke, founder of Curbstone, Stéphane Ratel, founder and CEO of SRO, and Frédéric Maeyens, general manager of the RACB.
Gentlemen, welcome. It is clear that Curbstone has proved to be a success during the past ten years. What do you attribute this to?
Patrick Van Glabeke: “Passion. Dedication. Hard work. Curbstone was founded in response to the need to have track day experiences at a higher level, based on what was available at that time. It started as a hobby, but after a couple of years all those involved shared the feeling it needed to become something more. We needed to have test days where we would drive our racecars to try and become a race driver or improve our skills as a race driver. Curbstone was ready to develop. And what you experience at the current Curbstone events is a development of that successful formula.”
Stéphane Ratel: “I agree. Patrick managed to bring the track day to a higher level of service, for a demanding clientele.”
Frédéric Maeyens: “It’s the story of the three
P’s, isn’t it? Passion for details, Pilots - as we call drivers in French - demanding a high standard, and Patrick, who made their wishes come true. And he introduced us to Ludovic Colman as well, who is doing an excellent job as the current General Manager of Curbstone.”
How do you see the future of Curbstone?
SR: “In the last couple of years, Curbstone has grown from 10 days in Spa to 40 events on the most beautiful circuits around Europe. You can rely on Curbstone to deliver what you need: it meets the demand for professionally organised Track and Test Days.”
PVG: “Indeed. The team of people running the events are all passionate and hard-working enthusiasts, with one single objective in mind: to satisfy our clients during our track and test events.”
FM: “The need for speed and the space to share the passion of racing and driving in safe and enjoyable

conditions will not disappear any time soon, will it?
Regardless of the electrification of the cars. On the contrary, that passion could even become stronger.”
Why did you get involved with Curbstone?
PVG: “That’s easy. I started it!” (smiles)
FM: “RACB has shared the passion for racing for more than 100 years. During the last ten years, the RACB has invested a lot to widen its traditional scope of activities. We were already active in the test and track day business, and we seized the opportunity to further develop these specific activities in partnership with Stéphane Ratel and the SRO Motorsport Group, a unique player in the GT world.”
SR: “I got involved because at Curbstone, they treated me perfectly. Their activities are at two different levels: first, they provide activities where drivers can enjoy the track before taking the step to competitive racing. And on the second level, they also offer the opportunity for cost-effective testing in preparation for a championship.”
Which aspect of Curbstone is the most appealing to you?
FM: “Lunch time! (laughter) No, seriously, the quality and involvement of the team is unequalled. They are all dedicated to making each and every one of these days a success, a day to remember for each participant, driver, team and the numerous visitors as well.”
PVG: “When you walk through the pit lane and you see only people with smiling faces, then you know that Curbstone is a unique track and test day organiser.”
Speaking of which: do you think there is such a thing as a ‘typical Curbstone client’? If so, what would that be?
FM: “Patrick is the typical Curbstone client, isn’t he?”
PVG: “Well, Curbstone members do come from different countries and parts of the world, are of different ages, and drive race or street-legal cars. From that point of view it’s hard to talk about a typical Curbstone client. But one thing we all have in common is our passion for cars, for speed, and for the quality of things we do in our lives.”
One final question: if you could bring any car to a Curbstone Track and Test Day, which one would you bring, and why?
SR: “I have been lucky enough to race in both GTS and GTR sessions organised by Curbstone. I had a Porsche GT3 RS at Spa-Francorchamps, and that was and is the perfect car for the perfect circuit. I enjoyed that thoroughly.”
PVG: “During these past ten years I have been fortunate to drive all kind of cars, from GT “street” (GTS) to race cars (GTR), from a Fun Cup to a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and even a fabulous Ferrari 488 GT3. But if there’s one car I could add, then I would love to drive a Ferrari F1 car at SpaFrancorchamps, just for five or ten laps. In dry conditions...”

YURI PIERARTS
Yuri joined Curbstone in 2018, to support further growth. Yuri is the new Spa and Test Days Business Developer.
What does Yuri do?
Yuri is based at Curbstone headquarters in Brussels and focuses on business development for all events at Spa-Francorchamps and Test Days in Europe. Yuri also follows the development of Curbstone incentives and Lapland ice driving programmes.

LUDOVIC COLMAN
Ludovic joined Curbstone in 2015 as Operations Manager. After inheriting Curbstone success strategies from founder Patrick Van Glabeke, Ludovic has developed and enlarged Curbstone activities during the last three years, including the SRO Motorsports Group and RACB in the corporate identity.
What does Ludovic do?
As the General Manager, Ludovic oversees all activities of Curbstone.
Mainly based at the Brussels office, Ludovic travels to every location where he sees a great opportunity to expand Curbstone even further.

JULIE ZUCCA
Julie joined Curbstone in 2017 to further develop the new Curbstone branch at Circuit Paul Ricard, Curbstone AZUR. In the last two years, Julie has been able to evolve the AZUR brand as a true identity for the French market, with unprecedented success for the AZUR 2H Evening Sessions at Circuit Paul Ricard.
What does Julie do?
Julie is Business Manager France and she is in charge of all activities of the Southern European market, with a special focus on France.

GRETA ROSADA
Greta joined Curbstone in 2016, when Europe’s best Track and Test Day organiser only had 16 Track and Test Days in its schedule. Thanks to her previous experience in event management, Greta has contributed to the immense success of the company, planning more than 40 Track and Test Days plus more than 20 smaller track events in 2019.
What does Greta do?
Greta works at the Curbstone headquarters in Brussels and is the Communication and Event Manager. Greta coordinates the communication department and she is involved in the full event management of all Track and Test Days, with a special focus on SpaFrancorchamps and all Test Days.

INTERCONTINENTAL GT CHALLENGE
POWERED BY PIRELLI
With the interest and enthusiasm of GT racing growing all over the world, 2016 provided the perfect opportunity for SRO Motorsports Group to introduce the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
The Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, Total 24 Hours of Spa and Sepang 12 Hours formed the calendar for the inaugural Intercontinental GT Challenge, the firstever global GT3 Series. This new concept was aimed at manufacturers, who are encouraged to use local teams to represent them in these leading GT3 races.
During its first three seasons the Intercontinental GT Challenge went from strength to strength, with Audi conquering the Manufacturers’ title three years in a row. Laurens Vanthoor, Markus Winkelhock (both Audi representatives) and Tristan Vautier (Mercedes-AMG) took the Drivers’ titles.
In 2017 the California 8 Hours at the fabulous Laguna Seca circuit was added to the calendar, and 2018 saw the introduction of the Suzuka 10 Hours. In 2019 the Intercontinental GT Challenge will visit all five continents for the first time, when the inaugurual Kyalami 9 Hour will be the new season finale.
The Intercontinental GT Challenge represents the highest achievement in long distance GT racing. By uniting these iconic events in one series, the level of racing at each round will certainly increase, elevating the events’ appeal to fans, sponsors, media, drivers and teams alike.

GT4 SERIES
The GT4 format was launched by SRO Motorsports Group in 2006 and remains under the company’s ownership. The category initially grew in stature within the Dutch championship and in the Germanbased VLN series, under the SP10 moniker.
2018 has been a landmark year for the GT4 European Series, with impressive grids competing at each race. It will maintain its six-round championship format in 2019, with each running in support of a Blancpain GT Series event.
The highly successful Championnat de France FFSA GT - GT4 France championship has also produced impressive grids since SRO took the reigns two years ago. The series will see the addition of the Coupe de France in 2019 and remains a standard bearer for the GT4 platform.
In GT4 America the format will be restructured around two series. GT4 America Sprint will contest eight nationwide rounds, including major events alongside the IndyCar Series. GT4 America Sprint X will also compete at eight events nationwide and will see two drivers percar on a Pro-Am basis, with regional GT4 America East and West titles awarded from five of the eight races.
A new GT4 Series will also be launched in Germany, under franchise by ADAC, while SRO will partner with Race Ready to create the GT4 South European Series, which features events in Portugal, Spain and France.
In Asia a standalone GT4 category will be introduced in 2019, competing separately at most of the six Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia events. This will be restricted to Asian nationals and residents, and will cater exclusively for Am drivers.

Run as part of SRO-promoted championships since 2001 when it first moved over to GT competition, the Total 24 Hours of Spa became the centerpiece of the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2011, resulting in 60-car starting grids. The Total
SRO has followed the same principles that made high-profile championships like the Blancpain GT Series so successful, namely reduced costs, technical fairness, exciting races featuring professional and amateur drivers, convenient locations, strong media coverage, and a friendly paddock atmosphere.
24 Hours of Spa remains the blue-chip event of the Blancpain GT Series, and its status was confirmed in 2016 when it was included in the new Intercontinental GT Challenge, the first truly global GT3 championship. In 2018, the Belgian endurance classic celebrated its 70th edition.
The Total 24 Hours of Spa is now one of the most popular races in world motorsport with over 60,000 fans attending the grueling contest. BLANCPAIN GT SPORTS CLUB
Established in 2015, the Blancpain GT Sports Club offers Bronze drivers a chance to fight their peers for overall race wins aboard modern GT machinery while also enjoying an exclusive and friendly paddock atmosphere. This is an ideal stepping stone for gentlemen drivers new to high-end race cars, providing a bridge between club competition and professional-level racing in Europe. The Blancpain GT Sports Club acts as an official support championship to several Blancpain GT Series rounds.

BRITISH GT CHAMPIONSHIP
The British GT Championship is one of the world’s foremost domestic GT series. Although originally established 26 years ago, SRO Motorsports Group’s involvement didn’t begin until 2005 when it was tasked with reviving the series following the GT1 and GT2 eras. Today, the championship pairs GT3 with GT4 machinery on track at the same time, while GTC also remains an option. Indeed, British GT was an early adopter and pioneer of the now globally successful GT4 category. The championship’s multi-class structure is considered an important aspect of modern-day GT competition that enables
young professionals and amateur drivers to prepare for international endurance racing.

GT SERIES
Founded in 2011 by SRO Motorsports Group, the Blancpain GT Series has quickly established itself as the leading international competition for GT3 machinery.
The championship is formed of 10 events staged across Europe. These are split evenly between the long-distance Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and the sprint-format Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe (formerly the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup). Each awards individual drivers’ and teams’ titles, while also counting towards the outright Blancpain GT Series championship.
Competitors can race in one of four categories: Overall, Pro-Am, Silver Cup and Am Cup. All Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe events consist of two races of one hour, with each paying equal points. In the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, race times vary. Three-hour contests are standard, but Circuit Paul Ricard hosts a sixhour event. The blue riband Total 24 Hours of Spa, meanwhile, is the world’s leading endurance race for GT3 machinery, routinely attracting grids of more than 60 cars.

Each series will retain its present status as an individual championship and will be known as Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe, Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia and Blancpain GT World Challenge America.
Drawing inspiration from the concept successfully pioneered in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, where manufacturers compete through local teams, each GT3 manufacturer will be able to establish a line-up of 12 drivers who will score points for their brand in the overall Blancpain GT World Challenge.
They will be split across the three continental sprint series, with four competing in the GT World Challenge Europe, four in the GT World Challenge America and four in the GT World Challenge Asia.
To fully integrate all classes of driver, each group must include a star (classified as Platinum); a good professional (classified Gold); an up-and-coming driver or a very experienced non-professional (classified Silver); and a Gentleman driver or former star (classified Bronze).
With major manufacturers striving to demonstrate their excellence in the competitive arena of international customer racing, the new Blancpain GT World Challenge will take on-track competition to a new level in 2019 and beyond.
