Welcome to the 2021 edition of the Curbstone magazine. 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us and, despite the many restrictions, we have been amazed by the trust and confidence that our customers and partners keep having in us. Based on the attendance and enthusiasm created by our events we can confirm that we are happy to continue the hard work of successful events on track and on road and Curbstone remains a steady and strong company.

It is time to start looking ahead to the future. What comes next? Driving innovation has also been key in planning our future events. Our activities will be based on two core concepts: Track and Road. These two ideas will form the framework of new offers and exclusive programmes for the next years. As always, our aim is to create a world of ultimate driving and racing, in which you, our Curbstone Friend, will enjoy spending your time.

As you would probably guess, our Track concept is all about the events Curbstone organises on circuit. Due to their resounding success, we will continue with our Pre-Season Test Days in 2021, and the popular Track and Test Days at SpaFrancorchamps and Circuit Paul Ricard will be organised again as well.

After the big success of the launch in 2020, the Clubsport Challenge is confirmed in 2021 as well. Thanks to this programme, owners of fast production and race cars can get behind the wheel of their cars on some of Europe’s most renowned racing tracks. As usual, this Track Day Series aims to amateur and gentleman drivers at the wheel and a low number of cars will be allowed on track, which will add to the enjoyment for all.

Our Road concept covers the events Curbstone organises on public roads. The Curbstone GT Tours, launched in 2019,

will certainly be back. In 2021 we will have three kinds of GT Tours: road trips at international, national and regional level.

You can expect our first GT Tours in winter and join us in Lapland for some ice driving. The rest of the year will offer great road trips matching the best of the spring, summer and autumn season with the perfect road landscapes. Each of these events will offer you the best driving roads, breath-taking locations and stopovers in the most elegant of hotels and exquisite gastronomic restaurants. Curbstone will take you to places where motorsport history was made or give you a taste of l’art de vivre along the way. Our GT Tours are open to GT and sports cars, as well as luxury automobiles, but to be certain that each and every participant can enjoy the trip to the fullest, the number of cars will be limited.

As you probably know, Curbstone is part of a joint venture between the SRO Motorsports Group and the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB). We would like to thank our shareholders for making this possible, as well as our partners BMW, Pirelli, Stand 21 Racewear, ETS Racing Fuels, and XPEL.

In 2021 we will do our utmost best again to bring you, our Curbstone Friend, the best that a track or road driving experience can offer.

TRACK

As you might imagine, TRACK covers all Curbstone events organised on Europe’s most iconic racetracks. Our Pre-Season Test Days and Track and Test Days at Spa-Francorchamps and Circuit Paul Ricard are well known by now, and for 2021 we will keep running the Clubsport Challenge. But don’t forget: our TRACK offer continues in 2021 with our monthly appointments of 2H Evening Sessions, like AZUR 2H at Circuit Paul Ricard and SPA 2H at Spa-Francorchamps. APEX Training is scheduled as well, with a lot of new features!

ROAD

The Curbstone GT Tours are the key point of our attractive ROAD concept. Each of these road trips will offer you the best driving roads, show you breath-taking locations and take you to places where motorsport history was made. Our GT Tours are open to GT, sports and luxury cars, with a limited number of entries.

FOR PROFESSIONAL RACE TEAMS AND THEIR DRIVERS

PREPARE FOR THE RACE SEASON

Test your GT, LMP and CUP cars before the start of the racing season!

Just like last year, Curbstone has confirmed a number of Pre-Season Test Days to enable car manufacturers and professional racing teams and drivers to maximise their preparations for the 2021 European racing season, from February to March.

Curbstone has secured a couple of strategic A-grade circuits, making sure chances of adverse weather conditions are slim. The Pre-Season Test Days have been scheduled to minimise journey distances between successive events and maximise the benefits in terms of weather and location. All dates precede the start of the racing season and the dates at which test bans take effect.

Most of the Test Days cover two or three days, which will obviously double or triple the potential test time. At each circuit, Curbstone offers an open pit lane format, with an average of 25 cars on track. Furthermore, there will be no track limits and teams will be able to use the highest noise/ dB limits on their cars.

A NON-COMPETITIVE TRACK DAY SERIES FOR CLUBSPORT DRIVERS

Clubsport Challenge is the new driving programme launched by Curbstone in 2020 and turned out to be a big success. The Curbstone Clubsport Challenge programme is a non-competitive track day series that allow owners of exclusive fast production and race cars for clubsport use to get behind the wheel of their cars on some of Europe’s most renowned racing tracks. No professional drivers (except for coaches) will be at the wheel, an exclusive feature of the Curbstone Clubsport Challenge that will add to the enjoyment. Especially since the number of cars on track will be restricted to an average of 25 on track.

CLUBSPORT CHALLENGE IS THE NEW VISION OF A HIGH-LEVEL TRACK DAY SERIES FOR AMATEUR AND GENTLEMEN DRIVERS:

CURBSTONE TRACK AND TEST DAYS AT SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS AND CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD

There is a good reason why Curbstone enjoys a reputation of being Europe’s best Track and Test Day organiser. If you want to enjoy yourself whilst driving or testing your car in the safest of conditions, just let us take care of everything during our Track and Test Days at the legendary tracks of Spa-Francorchamps and Circuit Paul Ricard. GT, sports and race car drivers are catered for during the Curbstone Track and Test Days.

Sun’s out, car’s out. BMW M4 GT4 is ready to go on track for a sunny GT-Race session at the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.

Our Track and Test Days are always divided in sessions: GT-Sport sessions, where we welcome GT, sports cars and low-performance race cars, and GT-Race sessions, where we accept GT, Cup and LMP cars.

During the GT-Sport sessions we limit the number of cars on track to an average of 45 GT and sport cars. The GT-Race sessions are limited to an average of 25 race cars on track. This is the best way to make sure everybody enjoys their sessions, in perfect safety.

FOR ANY DRIVER AIMING TO IMPROVE HIS OR HER DRIVING STYLE

APEX TRAINING

Curbstone’s APEX Training sessions at Spa-Francorchamps and Circuit Paul Ricard have been created for any driver aiming to improve his or her driving style. Both the beginner track day driver who wants to learn how to tackle some of Europe’s most legendary racing corners and the experienced gentleman or lady driver wanting to gain a few tenths of a second by hitting the perfect apex are welcome.

Under the supervision of Europe’s best coaches, the Curbstone Coach team, you will learn to improve all aspects of your driving technique, especially high-speed braking and smooth but fast driving. Each APEX session starts with a theory lesson, as well as some information on ideal tyre

pressure and management. As safety is paramount at every Curbstone event, this will be followed by a short safety briefing. The APEX Training session, held on a racetrack which is kept completely private, continues with multiple coaching possibilities in an open pit lane format, during which the coaches will help you to improve on every lap by guiding you through the corners and providing feedback on all driving aspects. This will ultimately allow you to hit the perfect apex!

Two formats are available: a 4-hour evening training session (starting at 16:00) or the Boot Camp, an extended one-day training programme.

AZUR 2H AND SPA 2H SESSIONS

THE BEST WAY TO EXPLORE THE CIRCUIT FOR GT AND SPORTS CAR DRIVERS AND BEGINNERS

2 HOURS OF OPEN PIT LANE FORMAT

With the 2H Session, we present an excellent format for all drivers looking to get a taste of their new car before a Track and Test Day, drivers discovering a new track, or anyone who wants to go fast in a pleasant ‘After Work’ format.

These 2H sessions are the ideal events for clubs or owners of extraordinary vehicles. You could also enjoy a splendid evening together with some friends, or if you don’t have the time to do a full Track and Test Day, this is the perfect format as well. You can even reserve the track exclusively, so you and your guests are the only ones driving.

It’s become a tradition that at the beginning of the year we welcome you to Lapland for several GT Tours of our “Curbstone Goes Lapland” ice driving programme. Fly directly to Arvidsjaur in Swedish Lapland, and for four days you can drive to your heart’s content on the ice. Here you can feel all the power of the car as its spiked tyres pass over the ice of a frozen lake in Lapland. Pure ice driving sensations guaranteed!

Still, there are some requirements you need to adhere to during a Curbstone Track and Test Day. If you are driving a race car, a race suit, racing shoes and helmet are mandatory. It is also advisable to use a Frontal Head Restraint (FHR) system. When driving a sports car, a race suit and FHR system would be ideal but are not mandatory. However, you do need to wear long sleeves, trousers and a helmet.

INTERCONTINENTAL GT CHALLENGE

With four prestigious long-distance events staged at world-leading venues, Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli represents the global pinnacle in GT3 racing. Manufacturers are encouraged to utilise local teams at each contest, thereby harnessing the capacity of major automotive brands while promoting regional customer racing.

Four of the five Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli rounds originally scheduled for 2020 will run in 2021, with the Total 24 Hours of Spa reclaiming its rightful place at the close of July. It will be followed by a return to the popular Suzuka 10 Hours, a second edition of the Indianapolis 8 Hour, and the now traditional nine-hour finale at Kyalami. The only change sees the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour take a one-year hiatus due to ongoing travel restrictions in Australia.

TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA

Staged as part of SRO-promoted championships since 2001, the Total 24 Hours of Spa is now the marquee event for both the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS. With packed grids and unparalleled on-track competition, it is acknowledged as the biggest and most demanding GT race in the sport.

The event is held annually over the final weekend in July and welcomes more than 60,000 fans to witness a supreme test of man and machine on the fabled Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Sustained growth over the past two decades has seen new records established for the number of brands and competitors, pushing standards ever higher.

Away from the circuit the Total 24 Hours of Spa is also a festival, a music concert, and a celebration of automotive heritage. This unique experience combines elite-level motorsport with a carnival atmosphere, where GT3 cars and big-name DJs share a common stage.

FANATEC GT WORLD CHALLENGE POWERED BY AWS

Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS is an international championship organised by SRO Motorsports Group in which leading manufacturers compete through their customer racing programmes in Europe, Asia and America.

The concept was launched in 2019, uniting three existing continental series to create a comprehensive global platform. Brands earn points through their customer squads, with the allocation differing depending on the event: 25 points are on offer at sprint races, up to 100 at the Total 24 Hours of Spa. Scores are multiplied by the number of cars competing in each class to produce the final tally.

Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS will return to a 10-event calendar in 2021, highlighted as ever by the Total 24 Hours of Spa, while Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS will stage seven rounds, including a place alongside Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli at the Indianapolis 8 Hour. What’s more, after being paused in 2020, Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS will resume at Sepang on 19/20 June, with five more events following across the continent.

INTELLIGENT MONEY BRITISH GT CHAMPIONSHIP

British GT is among the world’s foremost domestic championships, attracting capacity grids that feature a combination of GT3 and GT4 machinery. Originally founded in 1993, SRO Motorsports Group’s involvement began in 2005 when it was tasked with reviving the series following the GT1 and GT2 eras. Its present success has been built upon a strong pro-am ethos and a commitment to multi-category racing.

Indeed, British GT was an early adopter and pioneer of the now globally successful GT4 category. The championship’s class structure is an important aspect of modern-day GT competition, enabling young professionals and amateur drivers to prepare for international endurance racing.

GT SPORTS CLUB

Significant work has been devoted to placing amateur competitors at the heart of SRO’s future initiatives. To strengthen this endeavour, GT Sports Club Europe has been re-established as an umbrella category for three distinct championships

An expanded partnership with Rebellion Timepieces will see the renamed GT Rebellion Series provide gentlemen drivers with their own championship for the latest generations of GT3 cars. This will see two Bronze-graded competitors join forces for three-hour races at some of Europe’s premier circuits.

Within the same events, the new Fanatec GT2 European Series will create a competitive environment for the next generation of machinery, which will expand to feature four manufacturers in 2021. The format will consist of two 50-minute sprint races, either in pairs or driving alone, with Am and Pro-Am podiums. Both series will enjoy the same volume and quality of media coverage as the internationally recognised Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS

The calendar for the GT Rebellion Series and Fanatec GT2 European Series will include the Monza GT3 15th Anniversary meeting. Staged alongside the opening round of Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, the four-day event will celebrate a special milestone for the enduringly popular category by bringing together 30-minute “Anniversary” races for Generation 1 (2006-2009) and Generation 2 (2009-2013) GT3 machinery.

Complementing these series, the GT1 Sports Club draws upon the same ethos to create a non-competitive programme for super sports cars such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie, Lamborghini SCV12 and McLaren Senna GTR, which do not usually have the opportunity to join together on-track. This non-racing, race-inspired concept will offer eight hours of track time and limited numbers on the circuit, with events to follow Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS weekends.

The 2021 season will see a number of championships directly promoted by SRO Motorsports Group. The leading GT4 European Series attracts significant grids to contest its highly competitive six-round championship, with all events forming part of the prestigious Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS support package. FFSA French GT Championship has enjoyed considerable success since it switched to GT4 rules in 2017 and now attracts impressive grids to compete at the country’s leading circuits. FFSA FRENCH GT CHAMPIONSHIP

Launched by the French Federation of Automobile Sport (FFSA) and organised by SRO Motorsports Group, FFSA Tourisme / TC France will return the touring car discipline to a country in which it has significant history.

Inspired by the success and popularity of TC America, which has been organised by SRO since 2019, the new-for-2021 championship will feature multiple brands competing at the nation’s premier venues. Its calendar will follow the FFSA French GT Championship schedule, securing a place at high-profile events such as the Coupe de Pâques, Spa Speedweek and at Circuit Paul Ricard.

By drawing on France’s rich touring car heritage while embracing the discipline’s latest developments, FFSA Tourisme / TC France will add further depth to the national motorsport scene.

FIA MOTORSPORT GAMES

The FIA Motorsport Games is a unique multidisciplinary event that sees drivers competing in the colours of their national flag. Organised by SRO Motorsports Group in partnership with the FIA, the inaugural edition was staged in 2019 with Rome acting as host city and Vallelunga Circuit staging racing activities.

A spectacular opening ceremony in the Italian capital was followed by three days of competition at Vallelunga, where participants tackled the GT Cup, Touring Car Cup, F4 Cup, Drifting Cup, Karting Slalom Cup and Digital Cup. Team Russia topped the overall medal table to be crowned inaugural FIA Motorsport Games champions.

The event will return for its second edition in 2021, with racing activities located at the ultra-modern Circuit Paul Ricard and nearby Marseille acting as host city. The addition of several new disciplines means that between 15 and 17 are expected to form next year’s programme. The concept will also grow to encompass a competitor village, entertainment area and sports forum, positioning the FIA Motorsport Games as a must-attend event on the international calendar.

E-SPORT GT SERIES

E-Sports has enjoyed significant growth in 2020, with a considerable uptake in sim racing among professionals and amateurs alike. The SRO E-Sport GT Series was part of this revolution, staging a multi-event championship that featured real-world drivers and professional sim racers.

Further progress will be made next year as SRO continues to expand within the e-sports space. In 2021, continental series will run in Europe, Asia and America between March and November, focussing solely on sim drivers. The best from each will go head-to-head at the season’s end, while a winter series for real-world competitors will run from January through March.

The latest instalment from the Total Look series of events, the Vendôme 80 Rally will transport participants back to the 1980s with the unmistakable cars, music and style of the decade.

Participants will begin at Place Vendôme in Paris before heading off to the castles of the Loire Valley. Incredible scenery will meet them along the way as they travel to the town of Vendôme, culminating in a cocktail on the banks of the Loire and lunch in the town hall courtyard.
