• Sports tourism on the Balearic Islands in 2012: -
1.7 million people (13.9% of total visitors).

Average daily expenses: 104.8 €.

Objective of this study ďƒ˜ To estimate the economic impact generated by the Mallorca 312 - Fourth
International Cyclosportive. • Data about this event: - It takes place in a single day (Saturday).
- Most participants choose to come a few days before, so that they can do a few training sessions. - Many participants choose to stay at the official hotels. - A total of 1143 participants coming from more than 13 different countries participated at the fourth edition of the Mallorca312.

Results of this study In order to determine the economic impact of this sporting event, we analyzed different variables • number of participants • number of travelling companions • individual expenses of each participant • length of stay Result: the global economic impact was a 2,099,206.36 €.

Conclusions of this study The presented evidences allow us to say that these events can help to increase the numbers of tourists during the off-season, although this will not imply changing “the sun and sea tourism"
that prevails in the Islands . These activities grow slowly and nowadays these events just serve to mitigate the severity of the off-season on the Balearic islands, but they do not offer a
definitive solution.
