Chairman’s Report…. I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful festive season and managed to get out on the water sometime for a little R&R. Looking around the Eastern Marina over the holiday season it was great to see that many members were taking advantage of fine weather opportunities as there were plenty of empty berths. I'm sure many of you took time out on Boxing Day to watch the Sydney-Hobart race and I was thrilled to witness the performance of Secret Men’s Business 3.5. Finally, Geoff and his team can bask in the well-deserved glory of a handicap win and forever banish the ghosts of previous attempts. To have a second CYCSA boat presented with the Tattersall’s Cup at the Royal Tasmania Yacht Club two years in a row is something which I doubt will ever be repeated, it adds a glorious chapter to our club history. Two True and Shining Sea sadly did not reach Hobart this year but at the time of writing both boats, along with SMB are in Melbourne for Docklands/Geelong Week. Another Planet enjoyed a safe delivery and will also race at the regatta. We wish Andrew Saies, Andrew Corletto, Geoff Boettcher and Brenton and Tracy Pegler every success in Victoria and look forward to their safe return to home waters soon. LADIES TWILIGHT Due to the enormous success of our recent Ladies Twilight race we have had a number of requests to run another. Our Phil Hoffman Twilight Series Two concludes on Wednesday 23rd of March. The following Wednesday, March 30, is therefore free and REX is considering the possibility of running a Ladies race as a Racing Association fundraising event. With sunset at 7:15 this race would necessarily be a short one due to fading light but if you are interested in getting the crew together, putting a lady on the helm and enjoying one final get together before we ready ourselves for Winter please email Jess. The race will be conducted if we get enough starters (minimum 12 boats). AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE! On Australia Day we'll be conducting an afternoon race in the style of our twilight races. No spinnakers, 3pm start and a BYO Barbecue afterwards (with Canegrass Lamb Packs on for sale) will hopefully encourage members with racing and cruising boats to bring family and friends down for a lovely afternoon. Greg Patten has kindly provided the Barbecue Packs (chops, sausage and patties for two) but numbers are limited so call Jess to reserve some in your name. ADELAIDE-LINCOLN Moving forward to "Lincoln", we are the host club this year and, as such the briefing will be held at the CYCSA. A Combined twilight will be conducted the Wednesday prior and an extra Safety Day has been programmed (details in this newsletter). EASTER/ANZAC DAY A draft program is underway for Easter/Anzac Day at Port Vincent which is shaping up to be a big event for both CYCSA and RSAYS members. Full details on activities will be circulated once the program has been ratified by both clubs. As room will be limited and berths in high demand I urge you to secure your berth by calling Rob Marner at Port Vincent ASAP.
