Essences of Malaysia Discover a Land of Intriguing Diversity Malays, Chinese, Indians and many other ethnic groups have lived together in Malaysia for generations. All these cultures have influenced each other, creating a truly Malaysian culture. The largest ethnic groups in Malaysia are the Malays, Chinese and Indians. In Sabah and Sarawak, there are a myriad of indigenous ethnic groups with their own unique culture and heritage. This makes Malaysia known as a multi-cultural country.

6

Essences of Malaysia Festivals The multi-cultural wonders of Malaysia are best experienced with the numerous festivals that dot the country’s calendar of events. The festivities that surround these events in Malaysia will provide a great opportunity for you to experience the interesting ways in which different cultures, traditions and religious have merged beautifully, making this country the wonderful melting pot that attracts countless visitors all-year round.

7

Essences of Malaysia Places of Attraction Malaysia offers two very distinct experiences: the peninsula and Borneo (an island shared with Indonesia and Brunei). The peninsula is a mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian flavors with an efficient and modern capital, Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian Borneo features some of the most interesting places in Malaysia with a wild jungle, orangutans, granite peaks and remote tribes. Combined with some beautiful islands, luxury resorts and colonials towns, Malaysia, for most visitors, presents a happy mix.

Energy Sources If shopping is the national pastime in Malaysia, then food is the national obsession. It is not uncommon to be greeted by the phrase 'Sudah makan?' (Have you eaten already?). Everything in Malaysia revolves around great food. Pleasant social get-togethers are always combined with having a nice meal. In Malaysia, more people blog about food than about anything else. Locals usually never eat at home; unless it is with family. Everybody eats outdoors every night; Malaysia is all about food!
