Although deeply rooted in Lucerne, where the company was founded in 1888, Carl F. Bucherer has always exhibited a cosmopolitan spirit that has pushed it beyond its national borders. For while Carl F. Bucherer is based in Switzerland, it also feels at home in the four corners of the world. This wonderfully rich feeling comes from a hunger for adventure coupled with a passion for human exchange. Such an outlook has ensured the watchmaker’s international reach, bringing along with it recognition and awareness all around the world. So it is only natural that Carl F. Bucherer has forged close ties with some of the world’s most legendary places. Through this collection, the brand pays tribute to them.

The Heritage BiCompax Annual Hometown Editions, dedicated to cherished cities in nine different countries, have all the more meaning when, just like Carl F. Bucherer, you take pride in your roots. The strength of your connection to your hometown or adopted city is both significant and poignant.

The following beloved cities inspired this edition: Lucerne (of course), as well as Basel, Bern, Geneva, St. Gallen, Zermatt, Zurich, Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Beijing, London, Mumbai, New York, and Tokyo. The city names are engraved on each sapphire crystal case back. The emblematic landmarks of each city also appear engraved in an extraordinary three-dimensional effect. The Chapel Bridge adorns the Lucerne model, while Tiananmen Square appears on the Beijing model. The Japanese capital’s skyline and Mount Fuji in the background grace the Tokyo model. The remarkable miniaturized engraving lends the motifs a sense of realism that inspires admiration and literally transports us to the depicted cities.

A UNIQUE ENGRAVING

“THE BUCHERER FAMILY’S TRADEMARK ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT HAS ALWAYS ENCOMPASSED INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL. INDEED, THE BUCHERERS ESSENTIALLY PAVED THE WAY FOR THE BUSINESS TRAVELERS OF TODAY. THEY SET OFF TO SEE THE WORLD AND FELT AT HOME WHEREVER THEY WERE. THEY UNCOVERED NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND FORGED CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THOSE WHO LIVED IN THE PLACES THAT THEY VISITED. BECAUSE OF THIS, WE ARE NOW REPRESENTED IN MOST OF THE WORLD’S COSMOPOLITAN CITIES. AND IN KEEPING WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE BUCHERER FAMILY, WE FEEL AT EASE IN EVERY ONE OF THEM!”

AN INTERPRETATION OF THE MUCH-LOVED HERITAGE BICOMPAX ANNUAL

Carl F. Bucherer invites us on a watchmaking journey adorned with brilliant colors and luminous effects. The dials are subtly graded and silvered in the center, with shades that get darker toward the outside. The decoration on the sun-brushed surfaces forms minute stripes that blossom out, like the sun’s rays. They are available in yellow, brown, burgundy, green and mint. These colors were selected by Carl F. Bucherer’s local teams, in line with the preferences of their customers. The Lucerne, Paris, and Zermatt models come in brown, while the Munich model is in yellow. Vienna and Tokyo come in mint, while Basel, Beijing, and Geneva appear in burgundy. The Beijing model also comes in green, as do Berlin, Bern, London, Mumbai, New York, St. Gallen, and Zurich. These stunning chromatic ranges are punctuated by the black chronograph counters, the rhodium-plated Super LumiNova®–coated hour and minute hands, the small-seconds subdial, the 10 Arabic numerals, the indices at 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock, and the annual calendar month indicator positioned between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock. The counters are arranged symmetrically on a horizontal axis, while a tachymeter circles the dial. The information on these pieces can be read at a glance. The strap comes in two-tone perforated calf leather to match the color of the dial. It is also equipped with a quick-change system.

Every Heritage BiCompax Annual Hometown Editions model is an interpretation of the Heritage BiCompax Annual, which was launched in 2019 (The Heritage line was launched in 2018 but the first Heritage BiCompxa Annual appeared in 2019) and has become one of Carl F. Bucherer’s most popular timepieces. Inspired by one of the watchmaker’s historic pieces from the 1950s, their design combines with contemporary features, including a 42-hour power reserve and water resistance of up to 3 bar (30 meters).

The Heritage BiCompax Annual Hometown Editions are limited timepieces. Their case backs include the name of the city and the indication “1 out of 88”. The watches dedicated to Beijing are individually numbered and are limited to 188 pieces.
