THE FEMALE ROLE MODELS OF CARL F. BUCHERER

PARTNERSHIPS WITH POWERFUL AND TALENTED WOMEN

In the life of the Carl F. Bucherer watchmaking company, there is first and foremost the city of Lucerne, an insatiable muse, a land of excellence, a mother figure, an ambassador with a cosmopolitan spirit, a fertile inspiration. Lucerne, where Luise, the wife of Carl Friedrich Bucherer, founder of the brand, opened the company’s first watch and jewelry boutique with him in 1888, instilling the family spirit that is passed down from generation to generation. The seal “Made of Lucerne” was applied.

Then, there are the exceptional personalities who leave their indelible mark on the destiny of a brand, for example Wilhelmina BuchererHeeb. She managed the company together with her husband, Carl Edouard, and his brother, Ernst Bucherer, the sons of Luise and Carl Friedrich.

Strong female role models continue to enrich the history of Carl F. Bucherer, not only at the heart of the Lucerne manufacture or in the businesses that the company owns around the world, but also through the partnerships that it has formed with other companies and organizations with powerful and talented women who share the same values. They are modern and independent women, demanding, creative, talented, passionate about their work, with an entrepreneurial spirit, who serve as models and guides for other women who want to follow in their footsteps.

Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer,, pays them tribute by saying, “The women in our Carl F. Bucherer family authentically reflect the values we stand for as a brand: dedicated and independent, with a distinct sense for perfection and a passion for what they do, they inspire people in Switzerland and internationally. We are truly proud to be working with them.” Her business acumen entrepreneurial and cosmopolitan spirit contributed to the commercial and international expansion of the watchmaking company. It was her sound advice that encouraged the development of business from Berlin to Santiago de Chile. Unfortunately, it was during one of her regular trips from Europe to South America that Wilhelmina lost her life in a terrible shipwreck in 1927. In 2005, Carl F. Bucherer paid a magnificent tribute to this exceptional woman by launching a women’s watch, limited to 70 pieces, in a lavish Art Deco style, whose design was inspired by the first women’s wristwatch presented by the manufacturer in 1919.

These women include and are not limited to ; Carole Hubscher, President and CEO of the renowned family-managed owned company Caran d’Ache; Wendy Holdener, Olympic medal-winning skier, World Cup winner, and Carl F. Bucherer ambassador; Ramona Bachmann, Noëlle Maritz, and Lia Wälti, outstanding professional soccer players, including with the Swiss Football Association, the Swiss national team, who are part of the Carl F. Bucherer family; Lisa Streich, a talented and creative Swedish composer who works with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra; Bex Carter, Director of Operations for the Manta Trust, who is committed to a sustainable future; and Ruth Buscombe, supportive and generous Head of Racing Strategy of the F1 Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team.
