THE CONNECTION BETWEEN LUXURY WATCHMAKING AND HIGH-LEVEL SOCCER

Preparation, concentration, endurance, sense of effort, pushing oneself, passion, confidence, humility, ambition, analysis, audacity. This challenge to oneself is as much a challenge for the watchmakers in their Lucerne atelier of Carl F. Bucherer as it is for the professional SFV soccer players when they are training and playing. Then, there are others, effect of interaction: the interaction of watch components that fit together to make the watch work perfectly, and the interaction that connects one player to another of the same team. “The team is truly like a fine watch. Each component – no matter how small – plays a key role in the performance. A watch depends on every single part, and so do the team members, including those behind the scenes: everyone contributes to the success of the group,” as Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, points out. Team spirit, borrowed from sports, is an essential attitude for the brand, which pays tribute to collective work, from the stage to the backstage.

It is on these fundamental and human values that Carl F. Bucherer and the Swiss Football Association have built their partnership. They are also both Swiss, recognized, and visible all over the world, thanks to exceptional relationships based on their passion for watchmaking on the one hand, and soccer on the other. In addition, they represent two major players in the history of their respective universes: Carl F. Bucherer is the only watchmaking company that has been in the hands of the founding family for three generations. It was founded in 1888 and has made a significant contribution to the history of watchmaking, particularly through peripheral technology, while the Swiss national soccer team is made up of the best players under the aegis of the Swiss Football Association. It represents all the Swiss soccer clubs (nearly 1400), organizing the national competitions and the international matches of the Swiss team. Founded in 1895, it has been a founding member of FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) since its creation in 1904, and a member of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) since its start in 1954. Throughout their storied history, they and Carl F. Bucherer have reconciled respect for tradition with a visionary spirit.

Murat Yakin has been appointed as head coach of the Swiss national soccer team in 2021. The former footballer is also part of the Carl F. Bucherer Family.
