PATRAVI SCUBATEC MALDIVES

Carl F. Bucherer Dives into Deep Waters to Swim with Manta Rays

The Patravi ScubaTec Maldives from Carl F. Bucherer pays tribute to the long-term partnership between the watchmaking company and the Manta Trust, two parties jointly committed to the protection of manta rays. This charity dive watch is a testament to great technical performance, the search for aesthetics, and an environmentally conscious approach. These are values dear to Carl F. Bucherer, for which the traditional art of watchmaking is also a question of style, enriched by an innovative and responsible vision of time, especially when it is brought to life in a timepiece designed to protect an endangered species.

A MISSION FOR CHARITY

The future of the Patravi ScubaTec family is now linked to the Manta Trust, a charity organization founded by Guy Stevens in 2011. The Patravi ScubaTec Maldives is the fourth watch launched since 2017 by Carl F. Bucherer in partnership with the Manta Trust and has joined the company’s Sport & Adventure collection. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of each model was donated to the foundation, and a percentage of the sales of the watch was specifically dedicated to funding the floating research station for the Manta Trust Far North Maldives Research Expedition 2021. This vessel, chartered by Carl F. Bucherer and transformed into a mobile observation post, made it possible to explore the most remote areas of the Maldives archipelago, where a large number of manta rays live.

Uwe Liebminger, CMO of Carl F. Bucherer, is pleased to continue this major commitment. He says, “We are proud that with the new Patravi ScubaTec Maldives, we are able to continue our support of the Manta Trust, which has been close to our hearts since 2013. The ScubaTec Maldives will help raise awareness of urgent global need for marine preservation and it will also support an important initiative: the creation of a game-changing floating research station.”

Guy Stevens, marine biologist as well as founder and CEO of the Manta Trust, also values the partnership. He says, “Anyone involved in scientific research knows that goals can be achieved more easily if you’re working with partners, which is why I’m grateful that Uwe and his team are so enthusiastic about our projects. Together, we’ve made great progress in recent years, and the floating research station will allow us to enhance every aspect of our research work on the behavior of manta rays and their ecosystems. Carl F. Bucherer has generated an enormous amount of interest in these amazing creatures and we look forward to continuing the partnership well into the future.”

A DIVE WATCH WITH A MESMERIZING DESIGN AND HIGH PERFORMANCE

AN ECO-FRIENDLY STRAP

This dive watch captivates the eye with its brilliant blue color, reminiscent of the beauty of the sea, evoked by the lacquered waves that adorn the dial. Its stainless steel case, which measures 44.6 mm in diameter and 13.45 mm in height, features a unidirectional rotating stainless steel nonslip bezel with blue and white ceramic inserts. Its indices and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for constant luminosity, no matter how bright or dark the lighting conditions. A large 60-minute scale with luminescent marking allows the diver the security and comfort to calculate the time elapsed underwater easily and quickly. Its screw-down crown, automatic helium valve, and exceptional water resistance of up to 500 m (50 bar) make it a high-performance timepiece, ready for all underwater adventures. Inside the case beats the automatic caliber CFB 1950.1, a COSC-certified chronometer with a power reserve of 38 hours.

Carl F. Bucherer is doing more than ever to reconcile tradition and innovation. Concerned about the environment, the watchmaking company uses environmentally responsible materials. This is why the company wanted to add a natural rubber strap to the Patravi ScubaTec Maldives, with a fabric insert made from 100% recycled PET bottles recovered in the Mediterranean Sea. This ecological dimension makes all the more sense in this partnership whose purpose is the protection of animals that are affected by sea pollution. The strap is fitted with an adjustable folding clasp in stainless steel that extends the length of the bracelet so that it can be worn comfortably over a wet suit. The Patravi ScubaTec Maldives is also available with a stainless steel bracelet with an adjustable folding clasp, also in stainless steel, which is perfect for divers.

The Manta Trust Far North Maldives Research Expedition 2021 was completed on November 17. The progress made in the observation and protection of manta rays by the international teams of the Manta Trust during the expedition in the Maldives is remarkable. The Patravi ScubaTec Maldives, created to draw attention to this cause, has done an outstanding job in contributing to this success.

A SINGLE SECOND CAN CHANGE HISTORY

United by Team Spirit

Time, accuracy, and timing are the foundations of professional soccer, just as they are of the art of watchmaking. Carl F. Bucherer and the Swiss soccer team excel in their mastery of time, always striving for the ultimate in accuracy and performance. As such, the understanding of time makes sense. By becoming the official timekeeper of the Swiss national soccer teams in 2016, the watchmaker put its “Made of Lucerne” expertise to work for the matches and the players, and with it the assurance of extremely reliable timekeeping. Carl F. Bucherer and the Swiss soccer team have adopted this relationship with time – experienced as a relentless race against the clock, as well as a race for the glory of time – as the slogan for their partnership campaign: “A single second can change history.” During the 90 minutes of a soccer game, and more in some cases, every shot and every action can make a difference and write history. A goal can be scored in a split second and change the course of a day, a year, a career, a life. Carl F. Bucherer has witnessed some of the most intense and breathtaking moments in sports, including those that will go down in history. An impartial timekeeper, the Lucerne watchmaker is also a passionate supporter of the Swiss teams as they take to the field, holding its breath until the last second of the match, savoring every win.
