& Child Health

Pregnancy and childbirth have a huge impact on the physical, mental, emotional, and socioeconomic health of women and their families. Pregnancy-related health outcomes are influenced by a woman›s health and other factors like age, and income.

The goal of the Ministry Health & Community Prevention is to help ensure that all women have a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Gestational Diabetes Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is defined as “any degree of glucose intolerance with onset or first recognition during pregnancy. GDM affects up to %15 of pregnant women worldwide.Women with GDM are more likely to give birth to macrosomic or largefor-gestational-age infants. GDM may results in obstructed labour, the death of the mother and the baby and birth injury for the infants.

GDM also has longterm health impact, with more than %50 of women with GDM going on to develop type 2 diabetes within 10-5 years of delivery. Moreover, infants of women with GDM have a higher prevalence of overweight and obesity, and higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life Š 2015 International Diabetes Federation.

Most of the women around the world start getting lazy, eat junk, and think that its okay to stop practicing thier daily excersice when they realise that they are expecting a baby, which is not true, and can lead to future complications like GDM.
