nally, Dr. Evans-Shabazz is a member of the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. Dr. Evans-Shabazz is the Houston Community College Trustee serving District IV and serves as the board secretary. Her mantra is “If I can help somebody as I pass along this way, then my living will not be in vain” and thus feels that public service is her calling. Her goals for her district are to provide information, as well as seek resources for her constituents regarding accessing the vast opportunities available at the college. She feels that education is the key to changing the circumstances of entire families. Statistically, parents that are gainfully employed tend to engage in the educational process of their children. She seeks to provide avenues for this outreach and intends to engage with community organizations and job fair venues to encourage enrollment of people from all walks of life.
