Marcus L. Barnum’s clients are always surprised at how he makes the increasingly complex area of wealth building and financial management seem so simplistic. He is a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors. He provides comprehensive wealth management assisting individuals, businesses, non-profits, and foundations to build, maintain, protect, and transition wealth. Marcus earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Texas Tech University. He also received a Master of Business Administration from University of Phoenix in 2003. He later graduated from Rice University in Certified Financial Planning in 2010. Marcus brings over 16 years of financial services experience to his clients in Houston, and throughout the United States. His experiences span finance, insurance, marketing, product development, real estate, and operations. Starting his career in insurance, he held several positions including Mediator and Arbitrator of insurance policy limits. He is a former executive of Ameriquest Mortgage Company’s National Division, where he turned a fledging operation into a very efficient and high-producing 42 state expansion for the company. He was an excellent steward of this $700M division, where he was recognized nationally for his accomplishments as the number one executive within the firm. Marcus has also served as Regional Vice-President for Efficient Attic Systems where his region received the Consumer’s Choice Award for Business Excellence for 2008, 2009, and 2010. Marcus’ financial background not only assisted the firms he worked for, but he used his financial acumen to be a champion for the consumer as well. Because of his successes in the growing “GO-GREEN” movement, Marcus became a local and national energy-efficiency correspondent for a variety of news mediums. He has appeared on KHOU-11, CW39, and KPRC-2. He regularly appeared on The Gardenline with Randy Lemmon-(KTRH 740), The Home Improvement Hotline with Bob Burner (KPRC950), and Ask-a-Pro with Jim Klauck (KSEV 700). He has appeared nationally with LiveWell Network owned by The Walt Disney Company. Marcus is active in the community, serving on the Major Gifts Committee for Westbury Christian School. He served as a member of the North Houston Frontiers Club. He is a member of the Wells Fargo Advisors Black/African-American Connection. He is also a member of the National Black MBA Association. He also volunteers within the public school system, educating students from grades 4-12 on two major initiatives, “Getting Smart about Credit”, and “Teach Children to Save”. His dynamic teaching style has made him a classroom favorite across the city. Marcus is a loyal member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., where he also served as local chapter Polemarch. Marcus is dedicated to helping every individual reach their financial goals. He also has unique specialties that enables him to assist the increasing affluent population of African-American, Latino, Asian, and female professional groups. Marcus was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He is married to LaTonya Barnum and they have two wonderful daughters, Chandler and Sydney.
