A MESSAGE FROM 2 0 1 4 - 2 0 1 5

Hello Division 6 North Penguins!

L T .

G O V E R N O R

Ashley Chen

What time is it? Summer Time! As we step out of the Spring season, we're splashing into service-filled Summer! The dreaded month of finals and AP testing is behind us now, so there's no reason why you should be missing put on these events! There's a lot stored for you this season, along with a few surprises! So grab your sun block and summer hats, and get ready to SERVE in the sun! It's been a steady start for us Penguins, and we are now entering the third month of the 2014-2014 Key Club term. And honestly, where does the time go? This year, my year-long challenge to all of you is to remember to Celebrate: Service, Leadership, and Family. Why do we Celebrate? We Celebrate because everyone comes together for a celebration. We celebrate to bring our Penguin Ohana closer and united. I want you all to focus on Celebrating Service by doing 5 service projects per month, service projects don't even have to be within Key Club! If you're serving your homes, schools, and communities, why not count that as your personal service project! Focus on Celebrating Leadership. Know that every member is a leader, this celebration can be reached by the club or the division providing opportunities to each member for increasing leadership involvement! And finally, focus on Celebrating Family. Try having each member eliMiNaTe Maternal & Neonatal Tetanus from a family this year. Saving a family may sound like a lot, but it's actually only $9.00 a member! And I know you can do it! Penguins remember, focus on Celebrating this year. Make memories, make new friendships, make a difference. Because all the change in the world starts with YOU deciding that you want to make that difference. Well, that concludes my letter! I hope I'll see all of your wonderful faces out at our upcoming events this summer. See you soon! Yours in Service,

messages from the division leadership team Hey penguinos! With the month of May over and summer in full-sight, I look forward to waddling alongside each of you in penguin spirit and servitude this coming June! We have many events to look forward to in building our homes, schools, and communities (even during our "inactive" season)! Although most of us may've considered May to've been hectic and busy in light of AP testing and the end of the school year, it truly was wonderful spending ohana together at the past regional Key to College Event/May DCM with our Circle K and Kiwanis advisor at UCR! One of the "key" events we should all be looking forward to this summer is our divisional car wash! It will be held at John W. North on June 28th so make sure to make it as our Kiwanis will also be joining us! "Bee" there or be square. BE READY FOR A SUMMER FILLED WITH SPIRIT AND SERVICE PENGUINOS AS WE PREPARE FOR THE COMING SCHOOL YEAR!! TOGETHER WE WILL CREATE A TRULY GOLDEN PENGUIN YEAR OF SERVICE! #D6N4lyf

Although May is filled with SATs, finals, and more work than we can handle, Penguins always know how to volunteer and give back to their community. :-) This month, I started the volunteer process for Corona Regional Medical Center student volunteers program. I'm excited to be able to give back to my community through this amazing program. In this upcoming month of June, I hope to meet all of my amazing penguins and begin serving together! I'm excited to raise money for PTP, volunteer at the Eastvale Carnival, and begin volunteering at CRMC. What are you excited for?

Not only are we able to raise money for PTP and gain service hours, but we’re also able to have tons of fun bonding with everyone while doing so. There is no better way to cool down in the summer than having car washes with your Nicole Mai fellow penguins! :-)

Hello Key Clubbers! The 2013 2014 year of Key Club has been a year full of fun and memorable activities. Now, it is summer and we are Christine Moreno beginning to start a new year of awesome stuff. There are so Club Ambassador many things that I'll be looking forward to this month of June, including finally meeting other members of the Division 6 North Leadership Team, as well as raising money during our car wash on the 28th. I also hope to possibly see our division's new shirt design. In the month of June, I hope to see members become more active and enthusiastic about serving. I hope to meet more people along the way and also have fun with it. I look forward to a month of hard work for not only me, but the entire division as well. It's a fresh new start to another year so I hope the month of June will be a great turn out. I look forward to creating new memories with everybody in our division. Too another great year... :)

Hi penguins! The month of May is quickly coming to an end, but June is filled with events and opportunities to become more involved with the Key Club community! We have the Art Walk at Rosa Parks Elementary in Eastvale hosted on June 12, 13, and 16. Also, we have an upcoming Division Car Wash on the 28th at John North HS! Come out and help us raise money then join us for the June DCM hosted right after. Learn more about Key Club and our purpose and get trained like an officer. Pie face or water balloon contests are rumored to occur after, come and find out for yourselves. Enjoy your summers and don't miss out on what's coming up soon! Division 6 north key club is going to do big things, wait on it!

Hey Penguins! Being a part of the PLT (Penguin Leadership Team) for Division 6 North has been very exciting so far! We had our first teleconference meeting this May to plan out our functions for the upcoming year so you all can have fun! I can't wait to meet all of you at our events like at the carwash this June! Waddle on!

Anthony Yambao LETS GET A LITTLE BIT ROWDY, R-O-W-D-Y! LET'S GET A LITTLE BIT ROWDY, R-O-W-D-Y!! Now why the excitement you ask? Because FALL RALLY IS IN 5 MONTHS and it'll come faster than you know it (: This means we'll be having some fundraising carwashes, allowing us to help out the community and better yet, giving me the chance to meet more of you. (Meeting more penguins --> building new friendships --> an increase of chemistry within our division --> becoming more united as a penguin ohana --> higher degree of spirit as a whole). June is going to be one busy month but it will all be worth it in the end, especially at fall rally!! ◕‿◕

Spirit Coordinators DIVISION 6 NORTH OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER

Hello Penguins, the month of May has been a successful one. We said our Nathan Heger goodbyes to Class PTP Coordinator of 2014. We enjoyed going to the Key to College event hosted by Circle K. We learned what to do when in college. We bonded with the other divisions in our region. Everyone suffered through the horror of high school finals. I hope everyone is excited for June! The upcoming car wash will help the division bond as a whole. The car wash will also fundraise for Project Eliminate. I am looking for another month filled with service and fun.

Eric Stout Service Coor.

Hello my fair 6 North Key Clubbers! As the Ivy Jiang weather gets hotter, MNT Coordinator we penguins get cooler B-) and there are a lot of exciting events coming up. As one of your new 2014-2015 Project eliMiNaTe task coordinators, May was a time of easing into the position and getting acquainted with the tasks. I'm looking forward to our June Division Car Wash and Pie-in-the-Face fundraisers and service opportunities! We'll be sure to think up creative and fun new fundraising ideas for the upcoming year to support Project eliMiNaTe, and we hope to see you all out there helping or supporting us!

In the month of may, I attended "Key to College" ,and it was a fun and helpful experience. At Key to College, UCR's circle K had several workshops for us to do. In the month of June, I look forward to going to the collaboration of making posters, and the car wash. At the car wash, I hope we can fundraiser a lot of money for Fall Rally's auction of the lieutenant governors. So far, this key club term is great!

The one thing that I'm most excited about is our carwash at the end of June. It will be so much fun to go out and raise money together for our division. Not only that but I also can't wait to bond and meet new people there. I hope you all can make it!

Fred Villa Service Coor.

Ryan Lin Service Coor.

Refreshing my memory of the D6N banquet, there were a lot of great moments such as winning the award for most spirited class and the announcement of our wonderful DLT. I can't wait for the upcoming division car wash and have the time to bond with everyone in this division. See you all there!! :-)

past events Key to college is a very motivational experience to attend. Unfortunately, when attending any college or "planning for the future" events, the attendees are loaded with and overwhelming amount of information, however, despite the stressful topics of the event (such as choosing colleges, picking the correct classes for your major, and most important, the different ways of paying for school), the speakers addressed every subject in a light hearted manner, which really helped ease the tension in the room. I really learned a lot and enjoyed the stories of past experiences of the speakers in which I could learn from. I'm not going to lie, sometimes the event seemed to drag on, so I would recommend more breaks and more food, but overall the experience was great, and inspirational to anyone who desires to attend college.

past events "Before key to college, I never really had the interest in looking up colleges or learning about them. With the help of the friendly Kiwanis members, I saw how important it is to start thinking about my future. They showed slides that opened my eyes about all the opportunities there are to make college accessible. The scholarships and experience adults are actually easy to find making the process easier. It was a great experience to be a part of and it was a fun way to learn important information for my future."

past events For me this experience with this donation drive was a really fun. I met new people and I did some community service along with that. As a person I love tell help with people no matter what it is, also I love working towards a goal, in this case helping the community. Being able to do this donation drive was pretty easy considering that I enjoy doing community service with key club. Overall I have no doubt that if there is another donation drive, or if there is anything that I can do to help the community, I'll be there!

erhs kiwanis goodwill drive

The Goodwill Drive was a great opportunity for our hard work to be rewarded. Proceeds from the event benefited our club and provided scholarships for students. Eastvale Kiwanis appreciated our help so much that they even bought food and refreshments. Personally, I had a great experience and I was glad for the opportunity to give back to my community and help Eastvale Kiwanis at the same time.
