HI-YA Division 13 South! Welcome to a spoo-KEY month full of service and spirit! October is one of the BEE-siest months of the key club season & I hope all of you are doing well! Don’t forget to be advertising UNICEF Trick or Treat boxes to fundraise for one of our preferred charities. Also October usually means RTC or Region Training Conference is approaching & I hope all of you attend it in order to improve your membership and leadership skills. While this all may seem overwhelming, I know all of you can and will do amazing this term!

mia sam // executive assistant Hiya ninjas!! First semester is always a busy time of the year. With that said, PLEASE find the time to sit back and reflect on what you've accomplished so far! Reward yourself with a treat and a break every now and then. Many of us have a lot on our plate and will find our agendas stressful, especially our seniors who are completing the college application process right now! Not only is it college app season, but we are in the middle of prepping for RTC and FRS. If you ever need guidance, don't hesitate to ask those on DLT. We'll help in any way we can. Just remember, YOU GOT THIS!! I believe in all of you. :)

vittina ibanez // executive assistant Hey ninjas ! How’s everyone doing? I hope you all are doing well in school and really life in general. For me personally, it’s been tough since my workload has been getting heavier and heavier, but it’s okay since I know it’ll be worth it in the end. If you happen to be struggling as well, I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors. I know you will get through it because you all are amazing human beings. As for Key Club, it’s a very exciting time because events like RTC, Key Leader Camp, Halloween service events and DCM are coming up quick. I hope to see you at these events soon and that you join us in future spirit sessions as we get ready for Fall Rally in November! Keep doing good and keep serving ninjas!

06 st. john church festival event recap

daniel le bellflower | webmaster

Our club had its first club service event of the school year during the last week of September! On September 28, 29, and 30, our club volunteered at the St. John of God Church Fiesta. Throughout the days, our club set up for the fiesta, managed a booth, and helped clean up. Our booth was the Duck Pond booth, where kids were able to “catch” a duck with a net, with a letter on the bottom of each duck, revealing what type of prize they got. Everyone was a winner in this game! Gahr Key Club also joined us on September 29! As our first club event of the school year, we were very happy to see all the members that came out to help! We hope our members continue to come to the various service events we will have in the future!

rtc spirit session

sara quibin sato | general member The other night on October 13th, people from other schools, including myself, started off our key club experience with a spirit session for RTC! We got the opportunity to meet new people from other schools in our division and got to learn lots of different cheers. We even used the cheers in spirit battles! We started off the spirit session kinda quiet, considering some of us were new, but by the time the meeting ended, we were in a spirit battle! The people who were new to key club felt very welcome. I’m excited to see what our future key club experience holds for us.

region 8 avata-rtc

remy khinuon wilson | general member Division 13 South recently participated in Region Training Conference on Saturday, October 13th, 2018. The event was held at North Torrance High School attended by members of Region 8 (D19S, D19N, D13W, D13S, and D13N)! Region 8 was able to learn about Key Club, the roles and the benefits within our organization through three different presentation sessions during RTC. Some of these were lead by our very own ninjas! Some of the presentations, like "Bee-Living In Yourself" and "College Prep 101/Circle K", helped to teach Key Clubbers how to gain confidence, how stay mentally and physically/digitally prepared as well as how to motivate themselves in the future. Other presentations discussing positions, like "President", "Vice President", "Secretary" and many more, had been available throughout several sessions in order for members to attend the ones they were interested in. After three sessions of participating in presentations (with a lunch break in between), members headed back to the gym for a final break off to prepare for RTC's Spirit Rally! After two rounds of the 5 divisions cheering their hearts out, our ninjas came out strong in the second round and earned the Region 8 Training Conference Spirit Stick! Last, but not least, a LARGE "Thank you!!" to the R8 Lt.Gs and DLTs who helped to put this event together. Without you all, RTC would not have happened!! A special "Thank you!!" goes to our Region Advisors who chaperoned the event and continue to take the time out of their days to support us. We L-O-V-E Region 8!!
