“On April 9th, Key Club members joined with the Interact Club at River Valley for a WAPI event. This was the first event of the term. WAPIs are able to indicate if water has been pasteurized which occurs at a lower temperature than boiling. The use of WAPIs can result in less time and energy being used. There were different stations to create these water pasteurization indicators. One station consisted of heating the tubes, crimping them, and adding the wax. Another station was to drill holes. There was a station for looping and crimping wires, and assembling the WAPIs using washers. There was also a testing station. The final station was for building S hooks and packaging the water pasteurization indicators. Overall, this was a very fun event and we made around 400 of the water pasteurization indicators.” -
