Hello Grizzlies!!! It’s your Mama Bear Jamie Lynn Phan. FINALS ARE OVER, WOO! I've ended the school year on the 20th of May. It feels bittersweet that I am no longer a junior now and preparing to enter my senior year. I am so, so sad about the graduating seniors (like 2021-22 Mama Bear Hailey Phan) but I am trying to comfort myself knowing that they are off to grander things in life after graduation. If you are still in school, hang in there, you are almost to the end! If you already finished school, I am proud of you for concluding your studies this year! We are already two months into this term. Is it just me or is time really flying by? This month, you can anticipate for us to host our annual Officer Training Conference Alongside 27 South! Officers are mandated to attend and members are welcome to attend as guests in order to gain more knowledge about Key Club. I have been contemplating what exactly I plan on doing over the summertime. First and foremost, I will be catching up on rest and sleep that I have been deprived of during the duration of the last school year. There were one too many nights where I stayed up until 4 AM and I plan on allowing my body to heal from that… During the summer, I also hope to go swimming sometimes with friends and family! If we could, I wished that we would be able to do a Division-wide pool party. That is not possible right now considering the pandemic, so I hope you all enjoy swimming on your own time this summer. I will sadly be preoccupied with some extra summer courses that I am taking to complete my A.A. degree for Delta College. Being a hot girl scholar does not stop! Whatever you plan on doing this summer, please remember to take this time during the year to heal and rejuvenate your energy. School is oftentimes draining, and I know that it must have been exhausting for a lot of you all. Please rest. Take time to just appreciate your solitude in silence, resume some hobbies you might have neglected, sleep in without having to worry about an irritating 8 AM alarm, spend time with friends and family, and finally, be in the present moment. Key Club continues over the summer, so I hope going to service and DCMs will be a part of your summer hangout plans! I’ll see you around, Grizzlies. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything this summer!

Grizzlies, how do you feel?!?! I know I’m feeling grrrrr-eat! If you guys are not familiar with me, my name is Stella Torres, an upcoming senior at Benjamin Holt, and I am so fortunate to serve D27N as their DNE for the 2022-2023 term!

In this editor note, I will be talking about my key club journey throughout my 4 years serving you lovely Grizzlies ʕ ᵔᴥᵔ ʔ + also get to know me a little bit more. As a freshman, I was always looking up to the leaders that contribute time for this organization, wanting to be just like them. Although I tried out for many Key Club position my first year, I had no luck. It wasn’t until sophomore year, I realize I can do more as a member! This led me to join many committees such as the District Judging committee 2021 and receive many Division awards such as Member of the Year. This inspired me to focus on Member retention serving Ben Holt as VP and D27N as MRTC 2021-2022 (junior year). I was so glad to maintain these important roles, serving D27N with as much passion as possible! These two leadership roles can differ in task, however I can compare their similarities instantly. Both roles are inclusiveness to member retention and work with positions such as the President and LTG. Last year, I was even grateful to receive Distinguish VP award at DCON 2022. I continue show my dedication towards you all by serving as your DNE for my last term, All the losses I experience in my underclassmen years really resulted to me living my best life with all these wonderful opportunities. Now enough about my Key Club life, let me tell you my own life. Some things about me is that I love making bentos, a new hobby of mine. Although making the bento nice and pretty can take a lot of patience, devouring it is worth all the time. Another thing about me is that I love anything studio ghibli. Even my bento box is My Neighbor Totoro themed. For more of my personal content and getting to know me better, make sure to follow me on Instagram @stellamiiko!! Do not be afraid to message me on any platforms, I promise I won’t bite, I just want to be a friend!!
