Recap
Officer Training On June 18, St. Mary’s Key Club had the opportunity of not only attending but hosting this year’s Officer Training Conference at our own campus. We accommodated the classrooms and any space needed to host each of the different workshops. With the amazing help of our leadership team they were able to teach a great amount of students the proper training and knowledge needed to allow them to be the best version of themselves in Key Club. We spent about 5 hours in total learning new skills to grow and widen your knowledge in your specific officer position, while building new relationships with other members from different schools. “It was really exciting to have this years Officer’s Training Conference on our campus” president Marianne Romero says, “We hope to host more Key Club events in the future”
Maureen Romero St. Mary's
Both Divisions 27 North and 27 South participated in three sessions that taught officers about position tasks, responsibilities, teamwork, being a leader, and many more life skill meetings. Members and officers also had their DCM and some icebreakers during lunch, as well as D27S’ Quickly fundraiser after the conference. Workshops included icebreakers and a Q&A after the meeting. Every workshop was also hosted by two Spirit Task Coordinators and a Tech Assistant. All of Bear Creek High’s council officers were able to attend, as well as all of Division 27 North’s Key Clubs. Each meeting was around 1 hour and 30 minutes, giving enough time for information, tips, and advice to make Key Club life easier for new and experienced officers.

July DCM
+ Pie the DLT
On July 19th, we had our divion conference meeting where we played fun ice breakers and had a mini spirit sessions. The members were able to learn new and old chants and had a spirit battle between the two spirit coordinators, Habeeb and Peter. It was a great time to loosen up and work together with each other. Afterwards, we announced the monthly recognition where our amazing MR Coodinator gave out sweet gifts and the certificates. Nearing the end of the DCM, members were able to donate cans and money for PTP with a chance to pie the DLT and LTG! It was very messy but it was fun seeing the DLT and Hailey get pied with shaving cream.

Spotlight on Service What is Spotlight on Service? The Spotlight on Service Program is a way for clubs to showcase ideas for events, fundraisers, and service. These montly guides can also provide inspiration and ideas for clubs to use for their own. With this, the Service Projects Committee is able to encourage participation along with helping clubs reach their goals and impact their communities. Clubs can submit their own spotlight on service ideas too! More information and details on monthly guidelines and submissions can be found on the CNH website on "Spotlight on Service Program"!

Reach fro the Stars Interclub
The Reach for the Stars Interclub was a joint event with Benjamin Holt’s key club and it was the first interclub of the term. Members were greeted by President Jamie Lynn Phan and President Cathalina Cordero which led to a “This or That” icebreaker. Both clubs performed service through making origami paper stars and writing encouraging messages on star-shaped paper. Both Presidents gave members a step-by-step tutorial on how to make both service projects, while making sure the attendees understood what to do. There were powerpoint slides and videos shown to make the origami shaped paper stars and the star-shaped encouraging messages. Towards the end, members and officers were encouraged to continue service on their own time and each service project had no limit. Members and officers were able to produce 1,094 origami paper stars and 59 star notes for the elderly thanks to our attendees. These service projects will be donated to a local elderly home located in Stockton.

This month our key club members volunteered at the firework booth on Elm Street across from Walgreens. By buying fireworks at the booth then you would be supporting Lodi Adopt-A-Child. Lodi AdoptA-Child is an all-volunteer organization and they use their funds to help children in need. A good handful of our members came out to help at the booth by updating the fireworks catalogs, crossing out the fireworks that were sold out, helping people make their selections and purchases, and holding up signs that advertised the booth. This event lasted for a week and members could come to help anywhere from 12-8pm. The event went very well and it made the members happy knowing the profits of the firework booth go to LAAC.

Officer Training
The Officer Training Conference was held with our sister division, D27S Koi Fish, located at St. Mary’s High School. This was the first hybrid event of the term, with officers able to attend in-person and general members able to attend via Zoom. Officers were encouraged to attend in-person to get training for the different responsibilities of their board position. This event was divided into 7 sessions which included an opening session, 3 workshop sessions, the DCM session, a lunch session and the closing session. In the opening session, attendees were greeted by Lieutenant Governors Hailey Phan and Kristen De Jesus. Officers were required to attend their respective board position at the first workshop session, in order to gain a better understanding of their current position. Officers from each Division’s Leadership Team led each workshop session. During the DCM session, Stella Torres, our Member Recognition Task Coordinator, went over the June recognitions. D27N Grizzlies and D27S Koi Fish DLT played the game “Soulmate” with members. The remaining workshop sessions held important information and officers and members took home club pictures as the event was coming to an end.

For the 4th of July our club made mini American flags and we put them in front of peoples lawns. This event was two days before the 4th of July and it lasted for about an hour. Some people didn’t know each other so it was nice getting to know other members in our club. We sat in front of Ava’s lawn, then everyone introduced themselves and then we all helped make the mini American flags. First some of us wrote “Lodi High Key Club” and “Happy 4th of July” on a piece of paper then we would cut them up and tape them to the mini American flags. As soon as we were done making them we all shared the flags and walked around Ava’s neighborhood and put them in front of peoples lawns. Everyone had a great time and it was really fun meeting, hanging out, and talking to everyone.
