D27N's October Newsletter |Volume 10 | Issue 5

Message Message from from the the DNE DNE Hello grizzly bears! We are finally in the month of October. October is one of my favorite months because of Halloween and all the fall vibes with the weather cooling down and cozy sweaters! Last month we had so many events such as Grizzly on Ice, STC, and RTC. It was so nice seeing everyone during STC. Our Spirit team and Spirit Task Coordinators did so well with teaching everyone the new chants. Seeing everyone have fun ice skating at Grizzily’s on Ice was definitely a fun key club moment for me. Our Valorant tournaments was something new we tried this year and I hoped you guys were able to enjoy that. Enough talk about last month, there are going to be a lot of things to look forward to this month! FRN IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! So so so excited for Fall Rally North and ride all the crazy rides and win that spirit stick. I hope you guys are looking forward to that and the many other events that will be coming. Thank you everyone who takes the time to read the newsletter. It means so much to me! I hope you guys are safe and healthy and as always, keep participating in Key Club and looking forward to all the events to come. I hope to see you there! With Beary Wishes, Lydia Her <3

What is FRN? Fall Rally North is an annual Key Club event held at Six Flags where divisions from all over our district come together and will be held on October 3rd this year. During FRN, there are going to be fun activities held. For example, the Division Spirit Rally where all members will be doing their division cheers, decked in spirit wear, and competing for the Spirit Stick. Judges will determine how spirited, loud, and clear we are and the most spirited division wins the spirit stick. There will be a variety of food to eat and so many opportunities to meet new friends from all over the divisions. Since this takes place in Six Flags, you are able to ride roller coasters with your friends and enjoy the Key Club spirit. FRN is a great experience to meet new friends, scream your hearts out, and ride the coolest roller coasters while also supporting the Pediatric Trauma Program.

Meet New Friends

1

Since divisions from across our district will be coming together for FRN, there will be so many new people to meet.

Spirit Rally

2 3

The spirit rally is looked forward to the most as we hold many spirit conference meetings along with our hardworking spirit team and task coordinators making creative cheers for us to win. This is a time where we go all out screaming and enjoying the key club spirit.

Roller Coaster and food After all the activities and waiting, we are able to have some fun and go on roller coasters. You can experience thrilling rides and food with your friends.

Preparations

Spirit Wear

Cheers Round 1

Be sure to make or buy your own spirit wear. This includes any key club apparel such as t-shirts, hoodies, and windbreakers. You can also make your own spirit wear such as tutus, bear ears, spirit sticks, and leis. Remember our division color is royal blue and yellow so get decked out and ready to scream your hearts out.

Money In order to participate in some activities in Six Flags, it will cost some money. Food will also be costly so be sure to bring some extra cash with you.

Practice your cheers Remember, the only way to win that spirit stick is to practice those cheers so we can be loud and clear. Chants can be seen on the division website. If you can, take time to learn these chants or come to the Spirit Training Conferences held by our hardworking division spirit team and spirit task coordinators.

Please check our division website for all the cheers!

Club Rush Jennifer Pham | Middle College At Middle College, club rush happened on August 9th from 9:15am to 11:15am. Club rush was held at the SCMA plaza, with each grade level having designated times to visit each booth. Before anyone arrived, Middle College Key Club started off by decorating the canopy. Our historian, Jennifer Pham, made a key club edit so that attendees could visualize how their year would look like if they joined. As MCHSKC’s officers finished setting up, people started to arrive at our booth. President Jamie Lynn Phan, introduced herself to everyone who stopped by our booth and explained what key club was all about. Our peace officers, Kimberely Truong and Adelyna Chathankone, would do spirit chants at every hour to draw people’s attention. Our officers would join in with spirit chants, which seemed to be enjoyed by many of the attendees. A large number of people stopped by our booth and showed interest in what key club was all about. We ended the club rush with one final spirit chant featuring our peace officers and our board joining in.

Marianne Romero | St. Mary's On August 30th, St. Mary’s Key Club hosted their first in person Club Rush table for the first time in almost 2 years. We had prepared months in advance making posters, slideshows, and visuals to advertise our table. With 22 other clubs at Club Rush, our blue and yellow themed table really stood out. The Key Club President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer were explaining to students the mission behind Key Club, while our publicity took pictures to capture the moment. In one hour, we had 4 pages worth of sign ups for people interested in joining our club. “It was really exciting to host a club rush for the first time in a while”, Vice President Madelyn Robanho says, “this peek into normalcy has us all very excited for what the rest of the year has to offer”.
