pediatric trauma program
FOR THE MONTH OF september, CNH'S FOCUS FOR THE SPOTLIGHT ON SERVICE PROGRAM is the Pediatric Trauma Program. from fundraising to educating members, there are many ways your club can participate in this month's Spotlight on service program! Below are some ideas to get you started.
what is ptp?
PTP, also known as the pediatric trauma program is one of our preferred charities in key club. Trauma is the leading cause of death of children 14 and under in the United States. As a district, we fundraise to help create local projects; provide funding to train pediatric nurses, doctors, first responders; provide new medical equipment, etc. The overall goal of the Pediatric Trauma Program is to reduce the number of children killed or injured by trauma.
service projects
- Make PTP DoLLs: used to help children understand their Injuries and possible Procedures they will undergo - Project Sunshine: Go on their website and there are different volunteer activities (for example, you could tell a joke to a pediatric Patient.) - cards: design cards and send them to children hospitals - superhero capes: Use fabric to make superhero capes and send them to children Hospitals
fundraise
- Pie for PTP: During a zoom meeting, members could dare officers or the dlt to pie their face for a donation of $1-$5. - Dare for PTP: Members could dare officers or dlt to complete a dare depending on how much they donate. - food fundraisers: Call food places and try organizing a PTP fundraiser with them *Because of covid-19, refrain from holding big/ in-person fundraisers sosp: pediatric trauma program l 7

favorite key key club club event favorite event trish vo - mcnair hi key-uties!! i would have to say my favorite key club event would be a tie between grizzlies on ice and awake-a-thon. grizzlies on ice was the second division event i went to! i met lots of new people from other schools and i had also reunited with my friends when we parted after middle school. although i didn't know how to ice skate, it was really worth falling in the end and i'd like to do that again in the future! awake-a-thon was a great memory as well. i had an event that day as well for a different club from 6am til 5pm. i was very tired but just seeing everyone from key club all hyped up and energized, i felt wide awake. my favorite part from that day would be hearing our very own ms jamie phan singing i love you 3000 and everyone just vibing. i really love this club and it feels like a second home!
angela chen - middle college one of keyclub's newest service event, and best event in my opinion, is stocktoncon. it's a yearly event that occurs once, maybe twice a year. i've volunteered there 3 times and each time was great. you get free access to this huge convention and you just help answer questions that people might have. you might even meet someone famous like the Brian Baumgartner from The Office, who ive met. i've had great experiences volunteering there and i highly recommend everyone to sign up.
adelyna chanthakone - middle college Hello, I am Adelyna and my favorite key club event is Gift of Giving! This event was really fun and had many different service projects scattered around the college campus. We were divided into groups with a really cute mascot such as reindeers or gingerbread men. We had a chant provided and we also had times for icebreakers and making friends. I met up with a lot of my friends from other divisions at Gift of Giving which was really fun. The service projects there were entertaining and really enjoyable like painting a sock or even building a blanket! Overall, I really liked Gift of Giving and it was by far my favorite event. favorite key club event l 9
summer summer leadership leadership conference conference From July 1st to July 3rd, Key Club International hosted a free Summer Leadership Conference where everyone comes together from around the world and got to involve themselves into workshops and getting to know guest speakers. The guest speakers spoke about how they have made a difference in their communities and other communities in many ways. This 3 Day event gave students the opportunity to join workshops such as raising awareness about service opportunities, building the members leadership skills and building their character, and allowed students to collab from other Key Club districts. On the final day of the event, the Key Club International board reminisced on the achievements of everyone’s hard work throughout the year and term. As well as an emotional and heartwarming goodbye to everyone that has given them the opportunity to put in a lot of work to Key Club to still running and still going. They then announced the new International board, wished them very well this year and term, and ended off with a final goodbye. articles and visuals l 10

going green dcm
On July 24th, Division 27 North hosted a DCM and service event via zoom with the theme of going green. This first part of this zoom was the dcm. During this dcm the usual tasks were taken place such as taking attendance from each school, each school explaining what they have been accomplishing over this month, as well as member recognition. After this, members participated in a service event in which they turned used plastic bags into balls of plastic yarn to be donated to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church. A handful of our board members at Saint Mary’s Key Club were able to attend this event and all had a great time knowing they were helping the environment and reducing waste, all while fun doing so. “This idea of reducing waste by repurposing things you didn’t know could be repurposed really makes you feel some type of way,” says Lauren Bernal, “It feels good knowing the whole division could come together and do good for our environment.” Despite these words coming from Lauren Bernal, everyone who attended this event from Saint Mary’s Key Club all had the same thought.

lodi lake cleanup
A cleanup was held at Lodi Lake where club members cleaned up as much of the lake as they could in 1 or 2 hours. There were more people starting to go out to the lake, so this would have been a great opportunity to keep the lake as clean as possible. Members from the environmental club also joined and helped with this cleanup. Everyone was required to wear masks and social distance, and they had to bring their own supplies as well. Members started by cleaning the area near the park in the front and worked around the lake. Initially, all the members were supposed to go into the nature trail to pick up more trash, but it was decided that some members split off and cleaned up other parts of the lake. Areas such as the dog park were cleaned as well as the trail. After the cleanup was finished, the trash was thrown into trash cans around the park.

Bingo takeover
On July 29th, the bingo takeover interclub that consisted of Lincoln, Lodi, and Middle College occurred and it was such a fun and amazing experience. It was a perfect way to gain service hours through a competitive Free Rice competition as well as a way to bond with each other from different schools. We also did an icebreaker called “reverse soulmate where we guessed what the person would choose. We then ended the interclub with a fun get-to-know bingo as well as a classic bingo game! The interclub allowed for a way to experience some social interactions while also social distancing during this pandemic!
