Letter From the LTG

It’s almost time for FALL RALLY SOUTH! Are you excited? It’s time for to finally bring the Spirit Stick back home! I can’t wait to see you all DECKED OUT IN SPIRIT on November 12th. Don’t forget to reach out your respective club President to find out how you can get a ticket for Fall Rally. It’s also time to pay dues! If you haven’t done so already, make sure you pay your dues to your home club. Without paying these dues, your hours won’t be official and you won’t have the opportunity attend events like Fall Rally or DCON, or even receive recognition for the work you do, so make sure to get those dues in! We only have a couple months left in this term, so keep up the hard work and continue to participate in those service events and fundraisers, let’s finish the term strong!

OPERATION SMILE

In early October, Rowland Key Club held a service event surrounding the nonprofit, Operation Smile. This organization helps people who don’t have access to safe cleft surgery. We created sock puppets, a tool that speech pathologists use to help teach children about their cleft and how to form new sounds post-surgery. "These events not only informed me of the issues that are going on in the world,

but also created a way to bring people together and acknowledge the capability that everyone could do something to help while having lots of fun,” Doris Tseng, one of our members, said , “As a new member to Key Club, everyone was nice and I felt super welcomed. That allowed me to fully enjoy making these sock puppets.” All in all, this was a super fun event that allowed members to bond and contribute to their community together!

On October 7th, Walnut Key Club helped the City of Walnut hang Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD) banners. Key Clubbers arrived at the park where the Annual Walnut Family Festival would be held the following day to help prepare the WVUSD booth. Although the event was on a Friday after school, they were eager to help! Walnut Key Club Secretary Constantine Serrano recalled, "The event was great, Ms. Kelli was very nice and the club and I were able to set up the WVUSD area for the festival efficiently.”

Bonita Club Updates!

After a very fun and exciting Club Rush at school, Bonita Key Club hosted its first general meeting for the 2022-2023 school year on Sept 12th. The meeting was an invitation for members to come aboard Ellierates Airlines and embark on a travel opportunity to service and more as they came to our Key West destination. Our board put together a very welcoming event, served a tropical juice bar (juicy packs), providing a fun time for everyone to hang out, watched our latest music video and spoke about club activities and membership. Since our first general meeting, our membership is showing great growth. Our remind had to be expanded to two groups because we met the max capacity. Omar Mufasa, VP, said 166+ people in the reminds so far and look forward to having a lot of them become oficial dues paying members soon. We’ve seen a strong turnout of membership and attendance!

Let’s Meet our Officer of the month!

This Month I would like to welcome our newly chartered club Mt. Sac ECA to the Ellie Family! Here is a quick interview with their President!

What inspired you to join Keyclub?

I heard it from a friend, their name is Eliza, and the events they went to sounded really cool so I wanted to also join but the problem was I didn’t have it in my school so I created it myself haha.

What are your main goals as president this term?

Mt. Sac ECAS

President!

My main goal is to promote keyclub and get as much participation as possible. Lots of people have never even heard of Keyclub before so I want to provide this oppoutunity for them!

What events are you most excited for?

Honestly, everything because I’ve never been to any of these events before. I didn’t have a keyclub at my old school so everything that I’m going to go to is a brand new! I want to tey every single one, but especially Fall Rally because 1. It’s six flags so of course im excited for that! But also because we get to meet lots of people from our division!

A quick fun fact about you!

I have three guinea pigs!! I had five but...

“Yes, I am very excited for this year’s Fall Rally! Throughout my high school years, I never got the chance to actually become involved in Key Club. But since this is my senior year, I plan to do whatever I can. I want to be active in this club so I can enjoy time with the rest of my division at the Fall Rally!”
