For one of our August division service events, we hosted a Pots for Tots event. During this event, members painted pots for donating to a local community garden. Everybody was bonding and socializing and having a lot of fun. This was a joint event with our counterpart, the Goldstone KIWIN’S, which made it all the more special. Together, we painted over 70 pots and raised over $100 for PTP! This event was especially fulfilling due to the transparency of it; we were able to see our final products, not just the final design of the pots, but also their final destination: the Diamond Bar Community Garden. (The Garden welcomes visitors, so if anyone would like to visit their pot, it is waiting there for you! :) -Diamond Bar Members Relations Chairperson, Alicia Kuo

The West Covina beautification event was a truly relaxing and refreshing experience. It was early in the morning at around 7-8 a.m and took place at Heritage Park. I was a little shy because there were a lot of people I didn’t know. I knew some Walnut Kids and some South Hills kids. We spent the entire time cleaning up leaves and tidying up the area. Heritage Park is an area for hiking and has the Taylor House! We learned that the Taylor House used to be a rancher’s home and the big expanse of land around it was the rancher’s farm! It was really pretty and a cool thing to experience. Throughout my time there I also met some other kids, from KC and not from KC! I learned that they were from Charter Oak and South Hills too. It was really fun because they were so kind and we connected really easily. Soon enough, the people I knew and the people I didn’t know joined to become a friend group! It was really cool to see how quickly we could connect with the other volunteers. The entire experience as a volunteer was amazing. I didn’t even know that there was an organization that worked towards the beautification of the city. It’s really nice to think that these people put the time and energy into these parks and I was really happy to have had the opportunity to clean up a park! It was very interesting because I never think about the people who support and maintain parks. -Walnut Key Club Cabinet Member, Nishabell Rubio

Many of the dogs were so well trained, as they did not bother anyone making the toys. Plus, delicious boba and onigiri were being sold, so it was certainly an event to remember. These dog toys are to be donated to a local dog shelter where they will bring joy to the dogs living there before adoption. Thanks, Key Clubbers! -Rowland Key Club Editor, Jeff Magbitang
