Editor’s Note:
“I love seeing people I love, like my friends, and getting to really slow down and take a break from my crazy, hectic life. It reminds me of all the little things in life that make me happy. Such as spending time doing absolutely nothing with the people I love while still having the time of my life. Reminds me of all the things I have in spite of everything I lack. Makes me open my eyes and truly appreciate the people in my life.” - CHLOE WANG, WALNUT

(TURKEYS HAND
This month from November 2nd to 5th, Nogales Key Club hosted a Thanksgiving card event in the library. Key clubbers met in the library during lunch to make hand turkeys together. The hand turkeys were made by tracing one’s hand on

colored paper and cutting them out. These cards were made in preparation for a Lunch Time Activity that will take place later this month, where students will write who they’re thankful for. The activity was a great opportunity for members to
get to know each other and catch up! Clarissa Tabuloc, club member, states, “I enjoyed spending time and socializing with friends while participating in the event!” It’s exciting to watch the seasons change as we continue growing as a club.

NORTHVIEW
For this past month, we started off strong with our Chipotle fundraiser to support Northview Key Club on the 13th of October which was a success! We had our first general meeting of the month only a few days later on the 20th, discussing upcoming events as well as passing out supplies for our goodie bags for elementary school students. One of our main events for this month was
our digital Halloween Cards for cancer patients to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Many people were kind and contributed to this activity which took place on the 24th through the 30th. The same week, our president, Dayana Pamplona, dropped off some Halloween goodie bags Northview Key Club made for second graders at Cypress Elementary School. It was great and the kids loved it!
DAYANA PAMPLONA SAID, “I THOUGHT OUR HALLOWEEN GOODIE BAGS EVENT WAS A GOOD WAY FOR OUR CLUB TO GET MORE INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY BY TAKING THE TIME TO WISH A HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO THE 2ND GRADE CLASS AT CYPRESS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHILE ALSO HAVING SO MUCH FUN PURRING THE BAGS TOGETHER!”

OCTOBER SOCIAL In the past month, our club held a social event in which members of the club could participate and interact with cabinet members and officers. During the social, our club played three games: Mafia, Maze me, and the last was guess the emoji. We played Mafia for an hour, and every round we would switch out the positions of the narrator, Mafia, detective, and nurse. During the social, we were also split into breakout rooms of two, that way we were able to bond with the people in the breakout room more and get

closer to them. For the second game, which was Maze me, one person would be blindfolded (or because we were online), they would close their eyes, and the rest of the people in the breakout room would guide them through an online maze with their mouse. Finally, to conclude the social, we played a game called “guess the emoji.” For this game, there are emojis on a slideshow, and in thirty seconds, we would have to guess the movie of the emoji. The social was held on October 9th, from 4-6pm and there were about 16 people who came
I THINK OVERALL, IT WAS A REALLY CHILL BONDING EXPERIENCE, AND IT WAS A GREAT WAY FOR PEOPLE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER. I AM HOPING THESE MEMBERS ARE MORE MOTIVATED TO GET INVOLVED IN THE CLUB LATER ON.

“If it’s a winter holiday, cozying up in a blanket with my hot chocolate would be ideal. I also enjoy spending time with my family.” - SARAH CHANG, WALNUT “My favorite part of the holidays is when my siblings come back home to celebrate. We all eat yummy food while catching up with each other. During the holidays we always make these delicious kabobs with hotdog, marshmallows, and sometimes also fruit.” - CLARISSA TABULOC, NOGALES “Being with friends and family and the Christmas songs, and unwrapping gifts!” - GUICELY ROSALES, NORTHVIEW “During the holidays me and my family meet up. This is my favorite part because me and my cousins play smash bros together as we wait for it to be time to eat. We also have lots of fun and talk a lot about everything and anything.” - BRIAN NGUYEN, NOGALES

It was conveniently held on campus after a Saturday school which I think helped us have many members come since they didn’t have to go very far from their homes in order to attend (especially since most of our members don’t drive). In
fact so many members came throughout the event that we got to a point that we had no more open seats and desks for everyone to be able to work at! No worries though as many members didn’t mind working on the floor. The event ran for a total of 2 hours where members were able to have a laugh and de-stress while doing a little arts and craft project for a good cause.
Covina’s editor during the event I was in charge of capturing the moments from this event and it was truly a sight to see: “Looking ack at the photos taken from this event it brings up all the happy tories and laughs I heard from all the members in which many ople interacted with one another and had a great time meeting w people!” While I am a senior this year and unfortunately won’t around to participate in the event next year I’m sure that all future y Clubbers will enjoy the event and partnership formed between Interact and Active Minds for many years to come!

“What I love about the holidays is the atmosphere. Everything changes about us whether its decor, the cooler weather, the music, everything becomes more festive and cheery; there’s nothing like it! Seeing family and getting together is always super special and a plus is the FOODDD! But also, it’s simply having the fire on, watching Christmas movies with family with the tree up, and setting the mood to feel more connected with family!” - RUTHIE KANG, COVINA
