Editor’s Note:

“One of my new years’ resolutions is that I want to play guitar at least once a week because I really want to turn it into my hobby! I’ve been practicing everyday and so I want to continue being consistent with it going into the new year. Also I want to get better at every swim stroke in order to beat our LTG Marcus Fang in a race.” - ANTHONY CHEN, COVINA

CLEAN-U

SCH O O L

By: Jenny Zhang, Bonita

Last month in November, we collaborated with CSF to host a service event of school cleanup, where we went around the school fields picking up trash. This event allowed for me and other members of both clubs to bond with one another better, where we all came together with the goal of helping the school to be a better, cleaner place, and at the same time, it was a really fun experience. Chris Liu,

a Bonita general member, said, “The school clean up event was fun because we got to spend time with other people, and my favorite part was making our school a cleaner place.” From competing to fill our trash bag with more trash in a lesser amount of time to going into places we rarely go in, we connected with each other in ways we didn’t even realize. It is interesting to see how we

cheered over the big pile of trash we at the end, and ho many’s first few tim become excited w searching for and trash in the school together, we got t lot of ground and school and made effort, our school a place than it was

THANKSGIVING

LUNCH ACTIVITY By: Thomas Aguilar, Nogales

On November 19th, Nogales Key Club hosted a Thanksgiving Lunch Time Activity. Club officers set up a table with cut-out turkey hands to hand out to other members and students. Anyone was able to fill out the card where they

described who they’re grateful for. The student’s hands were then added to the Thanksgiving Tree Poster at the Nogales library. We’re excited to spend the season of giving by spreading some cheer.

Lucia Lopez, club member, states, “Making these cards really made people communicate with each other what they’re thankful for, I’d love to do the event again”.

HALLOWEEN

CANDY DRIV

10

In the past month, Walnut Key Club held an event where we sorted halloween candy from the halloween candy drive. We started off the event by checking everyone in, with around 27-30 participants from Key Club. However, because it was a collaboration with another service club on campus, which was Interact, we had around 35 people helping in total. With this, we were able to sort, box, and package all of the candy within an hour, despite the event running from 2:45-4pm. In total

we boxed around 45-50 pounds of candy with each box containing a wide array of flavors and types of candy. Personally, I enjoyed this event because of how quick and easy the process was; not only was it satisfying to watch the boxes filled with the donations of candy, but it was interesting seeing how this simple event will make an impact on several other children. Personally, I think this event was super easy and quick and it would be great to continue this event for the years to come.

“My New Year’s resolution is to keep on improving myself. I want to practice the art of being patient and having a positive mentality in life. I could keep going on, but my main point is to be a better person than my past self. I want to be able to overcome challenges and to do more exciting things. “Do what excites”, is basically my whole goal for the new year :)” - THOMAS LE, COVINA “My New Year’s resolution is to be way more driven with the goals that I have set for myself. I plan to not have much distractions and to work very hard towards whatever goal I’m aiming for.” - ELYSSE TRINH, COVINA

THANK YOU CARDS By: Roslyn Nava, iPoly

IPoly Key Club held another on-campus service event on November 16th. This event took place in a classroom during Lunch. This event involved our members creating Thanksgiving and/or thank you cards to teachers and staff. This was our way of appreciating faculty that work

When asked if she had anything she wanted to say about the event, our president Issa Suaybaguio said, “Thank you to those that showed up and created the thoughtful cards!” I would personally like to agree with Issa on behalf of iPoly Key Club’s officer board.

supplies they wanted. The cards came out aesthetically pleasing and I’m sure the recipients appreciated them. I believe that iPoly Key Club will continue with the on-campus events just because it is easily accessible to our members and provides our club with a bonding experience.

“To continue going to the gym everyday, as well as maintaining a positive mindset throughout the year!” - NATALIE GONZALEZ, NORTHVIEW “To build my relationship with God and work hard in school and on the field for soccer.” - JAZMINE ROMERO, NORTHVIEW “to be more organized :)” - DAYANA PAMPLONA, NORTHVIEW “to get good grades, improve my inner peace, and work on my anger issues. I also hope to find a better connection with my father.” - CARINA YOUNG, WALNUT “I wish to be mentally stable enough to get through one day without sabotaging my life. Secondly, I wish to be in New York, far away from everyone where I can start a new life and become a billionaire.” - SHARON WANG, WALNUT “As a resolution I want to be more consistent with myself. There’s a lot I want to achieve and I can’t get there without being consistent and doing the necessary steps for it over and over. Hopefully until it becomes a habit.”” - RYAN NERI, NOGALES

NORTHVIEW

For the past month of November and starting December, we had our General Meeting of the Month on the 18th of November to talk about the upcoming events and what we were preparing for Thanksgiving! On the 22nd of November we held our Joke Books for Pediatric Cancer Patients Event through Zoom which was a success and later that week on Sunday, November 28th we had our Thankful Letters of Love Event through Zoom. We were very happy to have participants even

though our events were during Thanksgiving break! Throughout the same week we had our Free Rice Event, where you play games to donate to families in need, especially since it was Thanksgiving week. Starting December off strong, we held our General Meeting to go over events and our Keymas Week! We talked about the Covina Christmas Parade which thankfully had many volunteers from Key Club show up on the 4th of December. Finally, we revealed the events we have planned for Keymas
