Letter from the Editor

Hey Narwhals! It’s Sophia again with the January newsletter. I hope that everyone is doing well. It’s pretty crazy to think that the Key Club term is almost over. I plan to continue to work hard inside and outside of Key Club and I hope everyone else does the same. Also, please make sure to send in articles and visuals so that our future division newsletters can better represent all of the schools in the division and their accomplishments!

LTG MESSAGE

Letter from the LTG

Hello Narwhals! Can you believe conclave just happened? There's already an LTG elect for the 2019-2020 term! Please make sure to congratulate Sasha Avakyan for being elected as the next LTG! Because Conclave recently happened, it led me to think about all the memories up until this moment. It’s so bittersweet and time has flown by so fast. Conclave led me to think about how passionate I was when I was elected and I want you all to think the same. What made you happy and passionate about Key Club? Officers, your term is almost ending as well so think about what led you to be where you are in this term. Don’t let the passion die off but keep it shining bright! Members, make the most out of your Key Club experience by taking every opportunity. We are so close to our division goals and I know in the next few months, we can make it happen. If I can believe it, you can too! It all starts with little by little accomplishments!

Michelle Le | Lieutenant Governor

DCON Information

April 12-14 in Ontario, CA You should definitely consider on attending DCON (District Convention) because this is an opportunity for you to be able to meet Key Clubbers from all over the California-Nevada-Hawaii District! Not only will you make new friends, but you will also be able to build your leadership skills and have a fun time at workshops, join the celebration of what the District has accomplished this past term, elect the District Executives for the next term and see the retirement and installment of the District Board! DCON is such an amazing experience and is personally a Key Club moment of mine, and hopefully, it will be yours too! If you are interested in attending, please let your club president know! -LTG Michelle Le

CLUB RECAP

Moorpark High School

Despite finals and other tasks that make December particularly stressful, our club still had fun serving the community. We volunteered at Moorpark’s Breakfast with Santa. We also wrote letters to Santa for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at one of our meetings. We ended the month with decorating floats for the Rose Parade.

CLUB RECAP

Agoura High School

This month, many members of Agoura’s Key Club volunteered to decorate floats for the Rose Float Parade. There, members cut flowers, placed flowers on floats, and painted. During weekly meetings, we continued with our ongoing service projects, making dog toys for animal shelters and making cards for Cards for Hospitalized Kids.

CLUB RECAP

Westlake High School

Macy’s Believe Make a Wish Event Our Key Club went to the Macy’s Make a Wish event, where we wrote letters to Santa, and each letter corresponded to $1 donated to the Make a Wish foundation. We started writing the letters in November so that when we attended the Macy’s Make a Wish event on “double day”, we would have plenty of cards that would be $2 donated for each! With the Kiwanis K-Kids at the event, we were able to raise lots of funds for the Make a Wish Foundation and even got to meet some of the Wish Kids. By attending this event, our wish of making a wish for a child with the Make a Wish foundation came true!

CLUB RECAP

Westlake High School

Carolling for Weathersfield Elementary (Sing this next part to the tune of “Deck the Halls” to get in an extra festive mood) We had a fun time car-o-ling Fa la la la la, la la la la We had spirit with the K Kids Fa la la la la, la la la la Our Key Club, along with the K Kids, sang carols at Chipotle. We were able to raise money For Weathersfield elementary Fa la la la la, la la la la. (End singing now) The meaning of this carol is that Westlake High School Key Club and the Weathersfield K Kids went Christmas caroling outside of Chipotle at the Oaks Mall in order to raise money for Weathersfield Elementary School. The money went to fund the school’s extracurricular programs.
