Ralph’s new look: you like?
S T N E M MO
Nine days, over 200 shows, shows, and too many presentations to count! New York Fashion Week took the chic set uptown, downtown, and everywhere in between, all in the name of the Fall 2012 collections. Needless to say, memories were made!
The smash PBS hit is a fashionable fixation far beyond the front row, but leave it to Ralph to channel the look—literally. His Fall collection opened to the tune of the show’s theme song, and a parade of waistcoats, tweeds, and smart separates followed. No surprise that the reviews were raves—but it was a bit shocking that Ralph, who never deviates from his usual look, hit the runway in a Abbey-esque suit and tie!

Aww Alert! Francisco and Rooney...
Every designer in New York is angling to dress It Girl Rooney Mara. Leave it to Calvin Klein Collection creative director Francisco Costa to make it happen first! The paparazzi went crazy when Ms. Mara arrived at Calvin Klein HQ for the Fall show…and then they went even crazier to find that Emma Stone, whom Costa has dressed for the 2011 Golden Globes, was also in the house. So what will they wear for the Oscars? No news yet—but there were plenty of good ideas on the Calvin Klein runway...

Fashion’s enfant terrible Marc Jacobs came up with the season’s seminal statement: next Fall, expect to wear hats, and plenty of them. MJ’s massive, furry, floppy styles were inspired by Oliver!, the musical version of Oliver Twist.

Bradley and Victor at Tommy Hilfiger
Gisele Bündchen took time out from her Brady Defense Offensive and hit up the runway for her dear friend Alexander Wang. Backstage, she tweaked her makeup and gamely posed with fans before donning her black leather Wang jacket and darting off to the runway.

Victor on Game Day
And speaking of the Super Bowl...what’s the best way to take a victory lap? Hit the fashion shows, of course! First up: Victor Cruz, who scored a prime seat at Tommy Hilfiger right next to Hollywood’s resident heartthrob Bradley Cooper and told reporters that of all his teammates, Ramses Barden was most in need of a chic-over. Coincidence or not: a few days later, Barden himself hit up the Jill Stuart show, sporting a chic Lacoste sweater…and confessed to owning about 40 pair of shoes.

Who was the most talked-about celebrity Kate and laura mulleavy in Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s front row? Not Natalie Portman, even though it was one of her rare public appearances since she had her baby Aleph last summer. Not Dakota Fanning, either, who had also graced Marc’s front row the day before! Funnily enough, the buzziest get was George Lucas. “I’m here because my girlfriend is obsessed!” he shrugged. She’s not the only one!

HARPER’S BAZAAR PARTY
CIRCA!
Throughout Fashion Week, the CIRCA Lounge at Lincoln Center was a haute spot for fashion insiders. CIRCA’s CEO Chris Del Gatto and his partner, supermodel, and CIRCA fashion director Veronica Webb, worked with the CFDA to suss out the top jewelry designers of tomorrow— and showcase CIRCA’s own brand Sector Watches. Gemma Redux, Dean Harris, Melissa Joy Manning, and Irene Neuwirth were the anointed ones, and their baubles rotated in and out of the lounge’s display areas. To kick off the affair, naturally, a party was required, so CIRCA partnered with the newly-redesigned Harper’s Bazaar to do so in style.

CHIC Bags Spring’s obsession with color doesn’t stop with the clothes—the best pieces of arm candy are also coming in fullysaturated shades. The most 2012 one to try? Yellow. It goes beautifully with black and white clothes, and it’s much more wear-resistant than light-colored neutrals. Whether a tote, a backpack, Louis Vuitton
or a clutch, do not use caution—the brighter, the better.
