After opening its first city location on Spring St. and Broadway last June, the second stop will be housed in Rockefeller Center. H&M, 60 Columbus Cir. The first H&M store in the city with its own private entrance to the men’s store, this iconic new outpost in the Time Warner Center opens with pieces from the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collection. Hurry! Open

House of Horology, 93 Prince St. Besides a plethora of watches at this New York-based timepiece line’s first store, get a caffeine buzz from the espresso bar on its subterranean premises and unwind après-purchase in the lounge area. Open

Bettie Page Clothing, 303 Bowery Hailing from Sin City, Bettie Page Clothing is adding to its national portfolio of 10 outposts, with its first NYC location sometime this month. Pin-up aficionados will appreciate a selection of kitsched-out retro stylings— think high-waisted hotpants and vampy dresses. Opening date TBD

Trinity Place, 61 Broadway The U.S. flagship of LeBunny Bleu is going by a different moniker stateside—one that’s named after the FiDi street the 26,000-square-foot department store resides on. While the main floor, stocked with women’s merch, opened at the beginning of last month, expect the men’s and children’s threads to roll out this month. Many of the brands are making their U.S. debuts, so consider this a way-south retail treasure hunt of sorts; as for the ambiance, it’s been likened to Anthropologie. Open

Maison Ladurée, 398 W. Broadway Get your macaron fix downtown, complete with a tea salon and resto. Plus! Expect Parisian guest chefs to make appearances at the new store. Open mid-December

HAUTE

HOLIDAY EATS

Just because designers and editors aren’t bona-fide food professionals doesn’t mean they don’t have a trove of delish recipes they’re game to share. Who says fashion people don’t eat?

Pineapple Cheese Casserole

“This is a favorite of ours, and kids love it! We serve it at dinner as a side.” —Veronica Miele Beard, co-designer, Veronica Beard 1 20 oz. can of pineapple chunks 1/2 cup of sugar 3 tablespoons flour 1/4 cup melted butter 1/2 cup Ritz cracker crumbs Drain pineapple, reserving 3 tablespoons of juice. Combine sugar and flour. Slowly stir in reserved pineapple juce, add cheese and pineapple chunks, mixing well. Pour into a greased 1 quart casserole dish. Combine butter and crumbs, sprinkle on top. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 30 minutes.

Corn Pudding

“This is a recipe my sister makes; it’s one of my all-time favorites. It’s an amazing side dish, especially alongside creamed spinach.” —Veronica Swanson Beard, co-designer, Veronica Beard 1 10 oz. box frozen corn (or 3 ears scraped corn) 3 eggs 1/4 cup sugar 1 cup whipping cream 1 teaspoon salt Butter for dotting on top Preheat oven to 350°F. If using frozen corn, put in processor or blender until coarsely chopped. Mix corn, eggs, sugar, cream, and salt. Put in casserole and dot with butter. Cook for 40-50 minutes. If recipe is doubled or tripled, extend cooking time. May mix ahead and store in refrigerator; stir before baking. FA S H I O N W E E K D A I L Y. C O M

Jalapeno Pepper Jam

“This is perfect with Thanksgiving turkey, as well as on leftover turkey sandwiches!” —Lela Rose, designer 5 cups jalapeño peppers, halved and cored 2 green apples (or 2 quinces) 2 cups white vinegar 4 cups sugar 3 tablespoons red chili flakes (fewer if you don’t want this too spicy) This recipe yields five 6 oz. jars. Prepare the jars for canning by boiling them in water at least one inch above the jars rim for 30 minutes. Allow them to dry on a towel. Put the lids and rings into a metal bowl and ladle boiling water until covered; let sit. Cut stems off the jalapenos (you may want to wear gloves and do NOT rub your eyes!). Cut them in half; remove the seeds and white membrane. Core the apples and cut into quarters—green and just-ripe ones work best. Pulse the jalapenos and apples finely in a food processor. Put them (liquid included) into a large saucepan; add the vinegar, sugar, and chili flakes. Bring to a boil, and let cook for 20 minutes or until the jelly is thickened and starts to look like a jam. Assemble jars and fill with jam. Wipe the rims. Dry the lids and rings and seal the jars. Put the sealed jars back in a large pot and fill with water, covering the lids an inch. Bring to a boil; let boil for 25 minutes. Remove the jars and put on a dry towel; avoid touching or disturbing for 12 hours. Check the seal after 12 hours (pushing down the center of the lid). Store in pantry and refrigerate after opening.

Julia Child’s Île Flottante

“As I have never attempted cooking anything in my apartment (who has time!?) I relegate cookbooks to countertop props only. One of the keystones of my kitchen counter tableau is Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Given my deference to all things pastoral, I sometimes find myself milling through the cookbook just for material to reference. One holiday dish I find fascinating is the Île Flottante, a floating cake island in a custard moat. Holiday flair, indeed!” —Chris Benz, designer A heavily-buttered, 2-quart baking dish or charlotte mold 3.5 to 4 inches deep 2 to 3 tablespoons sugar 8 egg whites at room temperature 1/8 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 cup instant or very finely granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup caramelized almonds; 2 additional tablespoons for serving Preheat oven to 250°F. Roll sugar in the buttered mold, knock out excess, and set mold aside. Beat egg whites at moderate speed until they are frothy, then beat in the salt and cream of tartar. Gradually increase speed to fast, and when egg whites form soft peaks, start beating in the sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time. Continue beating until egg whites form stiff peaks. Beat in the vanilla. Remove bowl from stand and fold in the caramelized almonds 1/4 cup at a time with a rubber spatula. Spread lightly in dish, which will overfill by 1/4 inch or so; smooth exposed sides and top with spatula. Bake in lower third of preheated oven for about 25 minutes, until meringue has colored slightly and risen about

1/2 inch. It should be cooked enough so that meringue can hold its shape for unmolding; its rise indicates this. Let cool for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least an hour so that it will settle. Set cover or plate askew over mold and drain accumulated caramel liquid into a small bowl. Unmold dessert onto serving plate. Sprinkle top with remaining almonds, and pour the caramel around. Pass optional custard sauce separately.

Cranberry Cosmopolitan

“This is obviously my fave holiday recipe! Martha Stewart’s version is the most delish, but I sex it up by doubling the vodka, and that’s a good thing!” —Joanna Coles, editor-in-chief, Cosmopolitan 1.5 oz. cranberry and orange vodka (sex it up by doubling it!) 1/2 oz. cranberry juice 1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice 1/2 oz. orange flavored liqueur (Cointreau works best) Ice cubes Orange peel, for garnish Cranberries, for garnish In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, orange liqueur, and ice; shake until well combined. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Twist orange peel over cocktail and add to glass. Garnish with skewered cranberries; serve immediately.

Sweet Potatoes with Toasted Marshmallows

“I grew up eating this dish for Thanksgiving. I love anything with marshmallows: they’re white fluffy perfection!” —Lisa Perry, designer 1 kilo sweet potatoes, boiled and pureed 3 eggs 3/4 cup golden sugar 1/2 cup of butter 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 cup chopped nuts 2 cups marshmallows Powdered sugar Cinnamon powder Boil sweet potatoes until done. Remove peeling from hot potatoes and mash well, removing all strings. Add all ingredients except marshmallows and cinnamon sugar; mix well. Spray or grease lightly a Pyrex or corning dish. Alternate layers of potatoes, and marshmallows until dish is filled. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar for added flavor. Bake at 350°F until dish is hot. Remove from oven and put marshmallows on top. Place again in oven to brown lightly.

Perfect 10 Kookies

“Heaven! They melt in your mouth.” —Karlie Kloss, model 9/10 cups almond flour 2/5 cups gluten free whole oats 1/5 teaspoons baking soda 2/5 teaspoons baking powder 2/5 teaspoons kosher salt 1/10 teaspoon xanthan gum

Karlie Kloss

1 oz. slivered almonds, lightly toasted 4 1/3 oz. mini dark chocolate chips 2 4/5 oz. olive oil 3 1/5 oz. agave Heat oven to 300°F. In a stand mixer, with the paddle attachment, mix the dry ingredients together. Add the liquid ingredients; paddle until well combined. Scoop cookies firmly with an ice cream scoop onto a parchment paper-lined sheetpan. Flatten each mound of cookie dough with your palms. Bake cookies at 300°F for eight minutes, or until golden brown.

Oysters with Champagne Sauce “It is truly a holiday dish!” —Catherine Malandrino, designer 4 1/4 oz. champagne 1 French shallot, finely chopped 4 1/4 oz. thickened cream Freshly ground white pepper Rock salt 1 dozen natural oysters (ie. Sydney rock oysters) on the half shell Chopped fresh chives to serve

Place champagne and shallots in a saucepan over medium heat; bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 3-5 minutes or until reduced by half. Add cream and season with white pepper. Simmer for 3-4 minutes; sauce should be thick and creamy. Preheat grill on high. Scatter rock salt over the base of two heatproof serving dishes. Arrange oysters on the rock salt; pour cream mixture on them evenly. Cook under grill for about 2 minutes, or until golden. Set aside for 2 minutes to cool slightly. Sprinkle with chives to serve.

Everybody’s gonna either love me or hate me, but I’m giving everybody my Karlie’s Kookies! People are going to be excited—or so sick of them. —Karlie Kloss

Another year, another

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show:

Does the show still feel as exciting as it always has? Oh, yes! The show is always different, bigger, and better. I don’t know how they do it. And I’m such a big fan of Rihanna. Your face is on the VIP badges! I see my face everywhere! It’s really strange. I feel really honored. Do you do Black Friday? I like to give things that people need. If someone tells me they’re looking for something, I write it down in my phone!

the pinkest, sparkliest, most gleeful eve around. Or day, rather, since prep at the Lexington Avenue Armory began in the morning, and trust your Daily, it was pretty hair-raising (of the rollered and teased variety). A trifecta of performances punctuated the winged strutting: Bruno Mars, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber. The Biebs got the most model adoration. Between the many (...many, many) steps to getting dolled up VS-style, the mods had a big lunch smorgasbord to nibble on. There were no less than six theme change-ups during the show (of which there were two, at 4 and 8 p.m.), including a “Circus” to kick things off, a kitschy-fun walk through a year’s worth of holidays in “Calendar Girls,” and a flora-festooned finale, “Angels In Bloom.” Phew! Sitting front row at the later show were Alexander Wang, Vanessa Hudgens, Debbie Harry, Kid Cudi, Alexa Chung, Tyson Beckford, and Poppy Delevingne. And then, it was off to Lavo for the after-party!

FAB FIRSTS! With Cara Delevingne

This is your first VS show! It’s completely mental! It’s unlike any other show; the buzz and energy you feel around here is so different. It’s absolutely amazing. Will you be nervous walking? Terrified. Someone said I seemed so calm before the show, but it’s because I’ve been having an anxiety attack for the last two weeks because of the show. I had sweaty palms! Thoughts on your Style.com print edition cover? I need to read it. I need to buy it! Matt Irwin is an amazing photographer. Some people asked why didn’t they Photoshop the lipstick off. I’m like, ‘It’s meant to be there!’ That’s the point of it. What are you gifting this holiday season? I have a big family and I give quite a lot of gifts, but even if it’s just small things, it’s important to get specific gifts instead of giving the same thing to everyone. What do you want? I want an iPhone 5 and a holiday. That would be wonderful!

PUMPKIN SECRETS! With Constance Jablonski

VETERAN AFFAIRS!

What’s your favorite holiday recipe? To be honest, I’m a really bad cook—my parents are not really good cooks themselves, so I grew up having a lot of frozen stuff! For fall, I love pumpkin soup—and in America, you do it really well. In France, we make it with Comte cheese on the top, and it’s the best. It’s traditional to eat that all throughout November. Do you do Black Friday? I don’t go at all! I go crazy when I see too many people in the stores; I prefer to shop on calmer days. I also like to shop on the internet, for bags and shoes. What’s on your wishlist? I’ve always wanted a dog! I know I won’t get a dog, because I travel too much and I’ll need a bigger apartment. I just love big dogs, like Dalmatians and Rottweilers.

With Adriana Lima

Who’s most likely to be on your iPod: Rihanna or Biebs? I like a combination! There are totally different songs for different occasions, but I’ve been listening to Rihanna a lot lately! What are you gifting? I haven’t started my Christmas shopping. I’m always last minute! I like to give what the person wants. There’s nothing more exciting than opening a box and finding something you wished for. I ask my brothers what to get my mom, and my mom what to get my brothers. That’s how I work.

I don’t go shopping, but I should! On Black Friday, I’ll probably take a bath, chill, and stay away from malls. —Lily Aldridge

PLAYING PIANO

With Miranda Kerr

Do you do Black Friday? To be honest, I’m generally working. What are you gifting this holiday season? I’m going to get a toy piano for my son, because he’s so into music.

TURkEY TALK! With Alessandra Ambrosio What’s your favorite holiday recipe? Oh, I don’t cook. But I’m Brazilian, and the holidays have very different traditions there— we do turkey, like what you guys do for Thanksgiving, for Christmas. Do you do Black Friday? I do shop if I’m here, but I’m usually out of the country working.

GIFT PATROL! With Erin Heatherton

Do you do Black Friday? I don’t even know what that is! What are you gifting this year? I put together a big bag of my most-loved possessions each year, including my favorite beauty products. Any holiday gift traditions? I celebrate Hanukkah; it’s random if I even get gifts! We usually don’t do anything. getty images
