History of the Chamber
111 Years: Celebrating the Pleasant GroveLindon Chamber of Commerce
The first public announcement of a commercial club in Pleasant Grove was published in the American Fork Citizen on Dec. 31, 1909. It announced that a “Booster’s Club” was to meet and that officers would be elected the following month.

Men anxious to promote business in Pleasant Grove gathered at the City Hall, which was the soft-rock building at 105 S. 100 East. There, they formed, adopted and signed a constitution in January of 1910. The club was known by three names from 1910 to 1924:
• Boosters Club: 1910 to 1913. • Commercial Club: 1914 to 1921. • Wasatch Club: 1921 to 1924.
On May 28, 1924, the group incorporated into the Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce and continued for a period of 50 years with a yearly membership fee of $1. It was the second such organization in Utah County. In 1997, conceding that the main function of the combined chamber’s business (as it always had been) was to help generate and retain businesses in the towns, they began working to form business partnerships, employers with employees, and get them all involved in the chamber’s efforts.
They formed the Downtown Merchants Association. The duel-city group accomplished so much through the year to enhance the two communities that neighboring chambers came to them for advice on how they could do so much with so little in finances. Volunteerism, cooperation and caring about their communities have gone a long way in their successful achievements.
