Our current Miss Pleasant Grove is Haylie Howe, daughter of Alan and Koleen Howe. Haylie has lived in Pleasant Grove all her life and loves serving her favorite community! Haylie has danced for more than 17 years and was a member of the drill team and Dance Company at Pleasant Grove High School. She graduated in 2020 and is finishing up her sophomore year at Brigham Young University where she is studying business with an emphasis in experience design and management.
Haylie’s Social Impact Initiative is “Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader.” Through this initiative, she spreads her passion for literacy to young students and adults. She has spent her year of service by teaching the community about the importance of literacy by hosting monthly “Meet the Authors,” events, posting weekly “Sunday Reading Question” videos, and building/managing two Little Free Libraries in Pleasant Grove and Lindon. She has enjoyed tutoring at the Pleasant Grove Library where she has helped children increase their reading proficiency.
One of Haylie’s biggest accomplishments as Miss Pleasant Grove was visiting every public elementary school in Pleasant Grove and Lindon. She taught her Social Impact Initiative, read to the students and motivated each student to set reading goals that will help them succeed in their future.
Haylie has enjoyed going to city events such as ribbon cuttings, service projects, school carnivals, neighborhood activities, all the Strawberry Days festivities and everything in between. She is so grateful for all the love and support from the Pleasant Grove City Council members, mayor, community, schools, friends and family.
It has truly been a joy and an honor for her to serve as Miss Pleasant Grove, and Haylie will always be grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Haylie will be competing at Miss Utah this June. To learn more, follow her on instagram @MissPleasantGrove.ut and @TodayAReaderTomorrowALeader.
