History of Lindon

In 1850, the early settlers of Pleasant Grove were attracted to this area because of a small grove of trees that gave them the promise of hope and a land with water and rich soil.

What attracted you to Pleasant Grove?

Was it the appeal of safe neighborhoods that brought you here? A recently published study listed Pleasant Grove as one of the safest cities in Utah. The report stated, “Pleasant Grove is one of the best places to live in Utah. Living in Pleasant Grove offers residents a dense suburban feel, and most residents own their homes. There are a lot of parks. Many families and young professionals live in Pleasant Grove and residents tend to be conservative. The public schools here are above average.”

Was it the proximity to retail, restaurant and businesses that brought you here? We have witnessed several companies open their doors, and many more are in the works.

Most notably, a prominent electric car manufacturer announced they will be building a dealership here soon.

Perhaps you are excited about UTOPIA building a fiber network. Last year, they began constructing the backbone; they are now working on the infrastructure and plan to be fully installed by June 2023. Some of our residents could see service as early as the end of this year. We are excited to offer anyone this optional light-speed connectivity.

Maybe you chose Pleasant Grove because you thought it was a great place to raise a family. Well, I agree. My family has been here for several generations. With the generous donation of the Cook Family Foundation, plans are underway to erect a gorgeous and spacious park in place of the old pipe plant. It’s going to be a family-friendly park like no other. The amenities will attract all ages.

Maybe you heard about another attraction recently announced: The Hale Center Theater. Relocating from Orem, this spectacular event center will be built near doTERRA.

Of course, we will be making changes to accommodate this growth. Plans are in the works to widen the road and add more lanes at the I-15 interchange. Plus, extensive efforts are already underway to improve our existing roads. The city council has approved a $17.8 million budget for road projects during the next three years. You can find detailed information and a timeline for those projects on our city website.

No matter the reason you chose to live here, I welcome you and I’m glad you are one of us. I hope you enjoy living in Pleasant Grove as much as I do.
