GLAMPING Get away without leaving luxuries behind By Johanna Armstrong

T

he word “glamping” is a fairly new addition to the English lexicon, a portmanteau of the words “glamorous” and “camping.” Glamping is a way for people to enjoy the outdoors away from home, without giving up some of the luxuries that conventional camping strips away. Rose Lake Glamping in Vergas is seeking to fill that niche in west-central Minnesota. Rose Lake Glamping, owned by Josh and Megan Hanson, offers two covered wagons that accommodate a family of four with a king-size

bed and bunk bed. “Families and friends are able to get away from the hustle and bustle to relax and recharge lakeside with many amenities and comforts that most miss when camping in the traditional way,” Megan says. Their glamping site offers a number of unique conveniences to patrons. “A few of the amenities that we offer over at the glamping site at Rose Lake with the wagons, there’s air conditioning inside the wagon, there’s electricity inside the wagon, and there’s also restroom facilities with showers, toilets and sinks,” says Josh. “Each wagon has their own

bathroom.” With lots of camping sites and rentals available in the area, Josh says, “We thought we’d try something a little more unique and provide an experience for the glampers.” Rose Lake Glamping opened in 2018. Megan said, “I wanted to offer guests and travelers a unique experience with the amenities of a cabin rental without the price tag. Being able to offer a one-of-a-kind vacation on the beautiful shores of a Minnesota lake.” This summer has been more active than in years past, Josh says. “It’s been very good this summer more than other summers with COVID, I think
