Better Foundation was created in 2016 to support Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. Both Hospitals are educational, associated with the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University.

They continue each year to raise vital funds for state-of-the-art equipment, world’s best practice research and advanced education for all clinical staff: medical, nursing, and allied health.

Their vision is to give our community the very best in quality local healthcare. The goal is to, bit by bit, to make Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospitals better.

We have a history of donations prior to the partnership with Better Foundation. The Echocardiogram, also known as the Echo Machine, donated to Blacktown Hospital in 2013 and the ECG Cardiograph in 2014 together valuing over $180,000.

Since then, we have assisted both Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals with Better Foundation through Parent Education Programs, Rehab Medical Equipment and Fibroscan Machines.

In 2019, Workers Blacktown hosted the very successful Better Foundation Spring Gala Fundraiser. Over $25,000 was raised for the much-needed equipment at both hospitals.

Due to the pandemic, the Spring Gala Fundraiser came to a halt. However, the WLG continued their support in 2020 - Donating over $47,000 towards the refurbishment of the Mother’s Room at Mount Druitt Hospital, a new CTG Machine (Foetal Heart Rate Monitor) and an Accu-Vein Scanner, which is an ultrasound vein finder. Without this scanner, treatments could not be administered. Prior to the WLG involvement, patients would be transferred to other hospitals for this treatment.

More recently in the 2021/22 Club Grants, we have donated over $57,000 for an OBS Machine, used for COVID-19 patients and equipment to go into the brand-new Gastroenterology Unit at Blacktown Hospital.

“The Workers Lifestyle Group are dedicated to helping the Blacktown and Greater Western Sydney community and with the help of organisations such as the Better Foundation, the Club will keep striving forward to a better future.” – Morgan Stewart, CEO Workers Lifestyle Group.

With restrictions eased, the Better Foundation Spring Gala will be hosted once again by Workers Blacktown on Friday the 18th of November, with goals to raise over $30,000.

That’s not all, the we are going one step further and turning our Annual Children’s Christmas Party (held at Workers Sports on Sunday the 4th of December) into another fundraising event for the Better Foundation. These funds will go directly to the new Children’s Ward at Blacktown Hospital.
