LETTER FROM THE SPORTS EDITOR What a fall season it continues to be! I came into town in the first week of September and quickly found out who was who, what was where and how best to celebrate the local teams’ success. With a Kittitas County autumn under my belt, it’s time to hoop, bowl and wrestle it up as we transition from crisp, clear, sunny autumn afternoons to the dark, rainy, indoor sports days and nights of winter. But it’s not over for fall sports just yet: The Ellensburg High School volleyball

team is in a state push — its 18th since 1979 — and is the last team going in a term where Bulldogs girls’ soccer, girls’ swimming, cross country and Cle ElumRoslyn girls’ soccer and swimming also made their respective Class 2A and Class 1B/2B tournaments. Thanks to all of the coaches, athletic directors, parents and residents who have keyed me in on what’s happening around the county. With a fall season like this, just imagine what will happen this winter.

hilip, 5-foot-8 and a Montana State Universitycommitted basketball guard, is too much to handle on the pitch as she scored a new single-season school record
