MONOCOQUE BODY

Monocoque (MQ) body design is the single greatest leap in spinning reel design ever produced. Realising the first and only true single piece body construction of spinning reels on the market. MQ technology delivers benefits to anglers on multiple fronts. Delivering the holy grail of lighter and more compact, whilst also delivering improvements in strength and weather sealing at the same time.

MONOCOQUE DESIGN

Monocoque (MQ) reels do away with the use of this two-piece design, instead replacing the sideplate with a large direct screw-in engine plate. This design nullifies the need for the screws and therefore, the extra material required on the main frame for a threaded hole to accept the screw. Monocoque bodies are therefore more compact than their traditional counterparts, and as a result of that design the size of drive gear which can be installed is maximised.

BENEFITS OF MONOCOQUE

Benefits of the engine plate design is the removal of a lot of potential entry points for water and debris into the main gearbox of the spinning reel. By removing the sideplate and therefore the area where the sideplate and the frame meet, along with the 3-4 screw holes, MQ reels are much more sealed to the elements than a normal sideplate equipped spinning reel.

Briefly mentioned above, a benefit of maximising the internal space by removing the screws and necessary material, the drive gear size of MQ reels is maximised. Larger drive gears provide reels with increased power and torque, which translates to a feeling of effortless power to the angler. The increased torque of the gear also means the gear is more efficient, which in turn also translates to a longer lasting gear since it isn’t under as much stress for the same power output.

Monocoque (MQ) reels exhibit functional benefits the angler can feel on multiple fronts, reels that are both lighter and smaller than previous models, making them more comfortable to fish. Also delivering benefits of being more powerful, easier to wind under load and better sealed to the outside elements.

ZAION

A high-density resin and carbon material, ZAION resists corrosion, and exceeds the strength of traditional reel body materials such as magnesium and alloy. This rigid yet lightweight material is utilised in both reel bodies and Daiwa’s innovative rotor designs. Lighter, stronger reels. The carbon hybrid resin material ZAION V is created by precisely controlling the amount of hybrid carbon in the mix. It achieves a weightlessness that surpasses metals whist maintaining a strength comparable to metal, and has the versatility to be mounted on many reels. It inherits the essence of the original ZAION, which can be said to be the MAX specs of carbon hybrid resin.

ATD/ATD TYPE L

Daiwa’s ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag) uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia resulting in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

AIR BAIL

Daiwa’s innovative AIR BAIL features a hollow tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Line easily slides along the AIR BAIL towards the line roller for trouble free line control.

TWISTBUSTER II/III

Twistbuster is Daiwa’s exclusive line-twist reduction system that features a tapered line roller to reduce line twisting. Twistbuster is perfect for both nylon and braided lines providing anglers with perfect line management .

AIR ROTOR

AIR ROTOR delivers a great leap forward in rotor design and function. Made from Alloy/Zaion/Zaion V, AIR ROTOR features a redesigned arch that disperses pressure, reduces weight and increases rotational balance of the reel.

LC-ABS

Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been shown to increase the average flight distance by approx. 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape. LCABS Spool Tech grants anglers a premium casting experience.
