How to arrive By sea: Half an hour from Genoa and five minutes from Camogli, Recco is a famous seaside resort that precedes the villages of the Golfo Paradiso. The landing larger, as an alternative to look for parking in the city, are the same as the port of Camogli and San Fruttuoso, connected by the Maritime Service of Tigullio from Sestri Levante to major centers, Lavagna, Chiavari or the port of Genoa by the Consorzio Liguria Viamare, thanks a service of boats strengthened in the period from Easter to September but still active even in winter. From the Cinque Terre boats depart for Recco, Camogli Sori and full of unforgettable trips to beautiful weather, characterized by species of flora and fauna of an

incredible biodiversity. By air: The nearest airport is Cristoforo Colombo (Genova-Sestri Airport), recommended for domestic flights. As far as the international ones, do not be deterred by the distances and premuratevi a stop in Malpensa and Orio al Serio (BG), or Rome Ciampino, moving later to the city by bus, and from there take the train, bus or by booking in advance tourists to Genoa. By road: From the North, especially for those coming from Milan, Brescia and Verona, we prefer the A1 or the A4 motorway Genova-Livorno, exit at Recco. From Rome, the highway is the ideal A12 direction Livorno, where, at the height of Viareggio there allaccerete with the A11. The first intermediate point before entering the state of the Aurelia is La Spezia, but in general, the whole triptych Pisa, La Spezia, Genoa leads with the appropriate signs to your destination. The best way to travel by train instead, for those coming from Milan, you get off at Genova Brignole, Genoa Porta Principe or, if necessary, and take the change in the direction of La Spezia with an intermediate stop in Recco. From Rome or Florence, the service provides Trenitalia arrow changes respectively in La Spezia and Rapallo and from Florence to Pisa, with figures after all changes effectively. Remember that traveling by train if you do not have bulky luggage will allow you not only to relax but also to stop in the intermediate stages of the Levant, for a journey that in a week, in the hostels cheap and under the star of the great chefs, will give a general smattering of flavors, history, traditions and exciting glimpses.

History Inhabited since ancient times, the village itself was founded by the Romans under the name of Recina (or Ricin), who exploited the trade route on the Via Aurelia to make an important castrum,

the fortified camp of the legions. More or less in the Middle Ages begins the long ascent of the church and the subsequent construction of churches Ambrosian typical of the area. Follows in the twelfth century another common history of the Ligurian villages, the domination of the Republic of Genoa who becomes the owner and proclaims the seat of the captaincy, thanks to its craftsmen, skilled builders in the maritime sector. Between Genoa and Rapallo incursions of the Saracens are continuous and fierce, but Recco resists and commerce thrives. After many years of forgiving navigation on the routes of the islands and land, only the second world war undermines the foundations of a town way, polite and always ready to hospitality, destroying almost all of the town and its urban historical artifacts older. Awarded the gold medal of Civil Merit, today is a popular tourist resort of Golfo Paradiso, the outpost, access, the guardian further west of the wonders of Tigullio.

Transport The route in eastern Liguria is a sin to live it closed in four walls of sheet metal. Magnificent in summer as in spring, ideal for getting around is by bicycle, in adjacent areas between Recco and Camogli Sori, or in the car but always with the idea of enjoying the scenery. The places of Tigullio look a bit ‘all, you want to size, you want to build, evolve from the old town close to the parish church to the sea and the beaches ring, it goes without saying, therefore, that the estimators for planning the ideal medium to find the old ruins and rose windows of churches, will be the good old feet, with the help of the camera. Considering instead the preciousness of the sea and the amazing cliffs of the Air Marine Protected Area of Portofino, book immediately the itinerary

by boat, or as to the Island of Elba, quad or bike rental for the day, touching the tip of wooded St Fruitful or reverse itinerary, for the more daring, reaching the “houses Gypsy” of Santa Margherita. In any case, the city is well served by local Provincial Transport Company (atp) with buses that connect Recco, Rapallo, Genoa and Santa Margherita, with rates ranging from path of four adjacent areas of 1.50 Euros to double, a time come out of the designated mileage range. As for La Spezia, however, with the banding system you have the ability to not only use more resources with the same ticket, but also to get rid of the omnipresent problem of parking.

Nature Recco is named after the river of the same name located in the high valley, on the hill Caprile, near the main road, and flows on Mount Uscio from which descends and forks. The proximity to fresh water allows nesting of several species of birds among the most detail, from the blackcap jay, without disdaining nests of hawks almost at sea level. Valicandone the ridge you can get up to Fontanabuona valley, in the hinterland of Tigullio, also known for slate quarries and for a long time been a fief of the dynasty of Fieschi. Arriving at a height of nearly one thousand meters, is sheltered from the cold winds coming from the north and northeast, factor, together with the presence of the sea, which makes the mild climate throughout the year, at the foothills of the nearby towns, including Recco . While the Val Fontanabuona is the archetype of the foothill landscape, the Regional Natural Park of Portofino is the one that is closest to the lush nearby, without diminishing the wild forests close to the city. The trails are evictions and clean and not at all hard to practice even for the uninitiated, especially in the morning, armed with backpack and

lunch, you could spend a pleasant afternoon and everything new that does not include swimming in the sea. The project was born in the thirties, the assumption of a driveway linking to Camogli via Santa Margherita to Portofino. The vegetation, as in much of the east coast, is tenaciously Mediterranean, giving space to small patches of hazel and hornbeam in the most north and pine, holm oak and strawberry trees by the sea on the clay cliffs. Despite the east coast is certainly steeper than the area to the west, for example, include the caves of Portovenere and the Cinque Terre steeper the slope, the bay of Recco, lies in a long loop of fine sand, which is served by the most comfortable facilities bathing. High-impact (but you have to gear up to suit and possibly have time with the consent of the management of the park outside the zone of protection called C) is the immersion in the segment of the sea below the promontory of Portofino. Activities are prohibited hunting of any kind, but with a good underwater camera you can take a still picture of a souvenir Posidonia Oceanica, or the vast grasslands of gorgonians. Between Camogli and Portofino, in the bay of San Fruttuoso, fifteen kilometers deep monitors the currents the Christ of the Abyss, a bronze statue of about two and a half meters in height deliberately placed on the seabed from an idea by Duilio Marcante.

The cuisine of Recco And so to our great protagonist, the gastronomy of Recco. Flawless with its wide use of herbs and Mediterranean flavors, it is definitely a must speak of his fornirvene cake and the recipe, but be careful that you do not tell anyone born and raised here, or at least Ligurian can taste the true nutritional regimen and the authentic taste of Focaccia di Recco. The reason is more or less concealed; cheese which denotes the typical flavor of the cake is the prescinseua, just milked obtained by the addition of rennet and cream. Fresh milk and highly perishable ingredients are what make prescinseua is consumed only in the traditional boards, and although I can remember briefly stracchino, also widely used, the original recipe is jealously preserved more or less since 1300. The proximity to France and the abundance of the resource, the fish are the second major protagonist: anchovies, anchovies, sea bream, all blue fish from the low value of fats and digeribilissimi in a thousand and one recipes with vegetables, beets, cabbage and artichokes, and always plenty of olive oil. Preserved jam and savory cheeses, along with the small wine cooperatives, are a great asset not only culinary but also secular traditions still dating back to feudal lords of the perio.

Monuments and places to see Artistic styles that over the centuries have covered the Golfo Paradiso, are varied and intertwined in buildings ranging from Romanesque to Gothic, Baroque and Victorian influences suffering to get to rationalism. The Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte, located in the Bay of Camogli, is a fine example of medieval architecture, monastic or otherwise known, which reflects perfectly the concept of the Romanesque church. And ‘accessible only by sea or along the path that descends from above Portofino. The statue of Christ of the Abyss lies precisely mirror the abbey, on the seabed, and nearby you will find a swimming beach. Notable villas of the Genoese, the main one of Negrotto Cambiaso, Arnzano, immersed in the park of Serra Liberty - commissioned by the Marchioness of the place, one of the largest in Europe and often promoter of the main events floristic region. Also in the Castello

della Dragonara Camogli (or Castel Dragone) invokes the dictates of the forts of the twelfth century, in an elevated position with respect to the nearby basilica of Santa Maria Assunta. The solid walls, making it a real castle perched on the sea, are perhaps the most wild and beautiful glimpse of the whole area. Currently it hosts exhibitions and cultural events, after having exhausted in 1999, the post office of Aquarius Tirrenico. In Piazza San Giovanni Bono in Recco, the church of St. John the Baptist is the place of the Vicariate of Recco-Uscio-Camogli Archdiocese of Genoa. The previous church was completely destroyed as a result of the massive bombing during the war, and the new building we see today was only completed in May 1951, replacing with the travertine facade and building a new bell tower next to the church.

Accommodations, tourism and events Recco not only fills the belly, but also the look. Off the Beach of the Friars can get your fill of iodine (and be very careful not to get scalded by the cruel glare in summer) and if the salt is not for you, there is always a pool of Sant’Anna, home town water polo, the Pro Recco. The territory that hopes to one lucky combination sea and mountains, also offers an abundance of hiking and biking, along the Via Aurelia for a short distance of the east, as mentioned above, will allow fans to not only train, but to collect more new splendid views. In the area of the Regional Park of Monte di Portofino, in the midst of pine trees and quiet paths, I will need to get away with not particularly challenging climbs, but not devoid of every shade of green granted to nature. Few words are needed on the

Golfo Paradiso, were discussed in previous issues. When driving on the highway in the hills and the sun plunges into the dreamy colors of the sea, one can not think about eternity that refers to the scenery, the smell of the sea that goes right into the city, there are places in the Golfo Paradiso, they are not exempted by the charm of the sunset and all the refined palette of colors, which, as usual, gives us. Less introspective and more impressive, is the relay Recco - Pontdilegno renowned ski resort on the slopes of Passo del Tonale, which can be reached with a long march of the runners (about 334 km) that sees them cross the Apennines and the Po Valley, passing through Iseo and Edolo, on the occasion of the celebrations of Palm Sunday and about the twinning between municipalities. Still on the subject spring, in May on the seafront held their annual “Feast of the cake”, which as the name alludes, not only gives a share of the more sporty cycling route, but celebrates the dish for children and adults. At the end of October there is instead the traditional Feast of Santo Stefano D’Aveto Transhumance, an event-livestock farm that touches the town of Torrio, in the province of Piacenza. Numerous houses and bed and breakfast with sea views to the promontory of Portofino, often equipped with additional attractions such as farm-themed children’s and indoor swimming pools.

Real property market Regarding the real estate market Recco includes some differences between zones as follows: Zone semicentro / coastal Polanesi, Mulinetti Megli. The Gulf Paradise has a unique and strategic location for foreign investors being within easy reach of the main airports and close to all the best attractions and services in Liguria and only 2 hours drive from the French Riviera. Anyone who invests in this area can always count on a long-lasting capital that you may always use lossless without any risk.

Surroundings Recco is placed directly in the center of an important cultural outpost that is the embrace between Genoa and La Spezia. While it is true to the bombast of the capital, in the social life of Santa Margherita and the beaches more easily assimilated super-equipped to Savona, on the other reflects the and poor style, sometimes gruff, the more extreme the east, the street flooded and pine forests grow undisturbed on the cliffs. Close to Chiavari and Sestri, without diminishing the flower beds of the Bay of Fables, the Gulf, which not coincidentally is “heavenly”, is perhaps the most striking trait of Recco and surroundings.
