The Art of A Leader When I first met Rosevelt Hawkins, we met at a coworking space where he was more relaxed and being asked the questions about his job and being a leader. When I went to Outbound Engine and landed on his turf, I saw a man who could lead anyone to success. He was very intent and strategic in what he shared with the people who attended the Information session that is done to answer all questions a new prospect may have about joining the OutboundEngine Team.

Hi Friends! Welcome to the re-launch of Ujima Magazine!! This is a rebirth, a new journey and a new focus! Where have we been? We have been online but I realize that did not work for our mission. Many people have said “print is going away, everyone is reading their news and stories online.” I found truth in those statements but I wanted my information in print.

My team and I took our time and we are now able to get information to the community through print once again. We have worked hard and I made sacrifices to breath life into Ujima again. As we move forward, you will notice a few differences. 1. The Black community will still be our focus, we will also be diverse in the stories we cover. 2. We have added a Business to Business page with information that will allow business to work with one another while highlighting business owners. 3. You will also find some of our favorite features that you enjoyed before.

4. Most of all you can pick up a copy, relax and read it at your leisure. You will be able to enjoy your community every other month. We have waited for this day a long time and we are so happy and proud to be a part of Austin print news again. Thanks to my team who has continued to believe in my vision and support me in making it happen once again. Thanks for all your support and we hope you get something out of the new issue.

Rosevelt is the Director of Sales and Training. OutboundEngine was founded in 2012 in Austin, Texas. It was originally called Promo Labs. They started out running email marketing campaigns for promotional products distributors. In 2013, the name was changed to OutboundEngine, they expanded into social media marketing, and welcomed the real estate, insurance and mortgage industries onto the OutboundEngine platform. I had the opportunity to attend the Information session that is lead by Rosevelt (lovingly called Rosey by colleagues). The people attending the session wanted to find out more about the company and one young lady had done her homework. She had reviewed the website and the owners background and was very prepared for the discussion. It was a very interactive and informational session. The Information Session The information sessions were started in 2004. The staff at OutboundEngine wanted to speak with individuals interested in possibly working there by answering their questions openly and honestly while giving them value information about the company so the individual can make an informed decision as to whether or not they are a good fit for the job. Rosevelt explained

by the time the person comes back for an interview, they should have questions and not be nervous because they have already had an open discussion about the company and business. What service does the OutboundEngine provide? OutboundEngine provides email automation and social media services. The Playbook of Leadership Rosevelt gave a great leadership lesson based on several things from his “Leadership Playbook.” 1. Everyone starts as a Sales Associate. This means you need to give your best. 2. The Culture Outbound Engine thrives on the culture of caring about one another. We do not cut each other’s throat, we teach a “team” approach. 3. Our Work Ethic At OutboundEngine you have to do what you say you will do. Rosevelt teaches lessons that each of us could apply to other jobs or just our goals in life. Motivate yourself and others to be the better each day. And lastly, deliver on what you say you will do. Be confident and honest in all you do. Thanks to Rosevelt Hawkins for the opportunity to learn from a great motivator and leader. For more information, visit outboundengine.com.
