LIFE IS A JOURNEY, AND A GOOD JOURNEY SHOULD BE SHARED Many have heard the statement that there is “no ‘I’ in the word ‘Team’.” This is as true today as it has ever been. Businesses have found that the key to successfully completing and accomplishing projects is often through the development of teams. Whereas in the past, teamwork was used only for special projects, now it is often the norm. Teamwork has become an essential element for the success and survival of a business. True collaboration, however, is a problem that plagues companies when trying to develop a teamwork environment. Managers must be able to develop ways for associates to grow and develop as a team. D&I is honored to help equip your employees with the necessary tools to create effective teamwork focused on commitment and delivering a high level of excellence. Many learning models describe how individuals learn through experience. Most have four distinct phases: experience, reflection, processing, applying. The Experiential Learning Cycle describes the various stages that a group or an individual goes through after an experience. Our role is to help participants move through this cycle to learn and gain meaning from the experience.

We design all activities by carefully taking into consideration the composition of your workforce.

Experience The experience can be anything! Experiences can be both positive and negative, but from all experiences participants have something to learn. Reflection Reflection occurs within an individual. Therefore, we have built reflection time into the program. This is a very important aspect of the experiential cycle. Participants internalize the experiences that they had and begin to see the larger meaning of these experiences. Processing Processing can occur on an individual basis or as part of a larger group. We have also build debriefing sessions throughout the day in order to help participants find more meaning of the activity and their role. Application The application of new knowledge is a key piece to this learning model. The learnings from the experience have been distilled through reflection and processing. The participants begin to think about how they will apply what they have just learned to future experiences in their lives.

Safety. We take safety as a serious matter. For this reason we have arranged to have coaches that are certified to provide First Aid if necessary. Before starting each activity, our coaches present the Challenge by Choice to participants. This philosophy ensures that participants willingly choose to participate and challenge themselves with the expectation that their choices will be supported by the group. Anyone who does not wish to participate in a particular way can be asked to play a different role however. Furthermore, safety guidelines shall be provided before participants start each activity.

Race against time chasing excellence.

THE AMAZING CHASE Amazing Chase entails cryptic and mentally challenging activities that takes in famous sites, monuments and places of interest. This multi-activity event utilizes cryptic clues, problem solving challenges, orienteering with maps and a host of media from cellphones and computer disks to the Internet and audio tapes to test the resourcefulness, teamwork and intelligence of your team. We aim to prove that the human race really is amazing! You may wish to include more adventurous elements in your event. The event will reward teamwork, team building skills, leadership skills, creativity, out-of-thebox thinking and taking calculated risks. We meet at your office, hotel or a pre-determined location and finish back at the starting point or at a number of exciting locations. You’ll never know where you’re going next or what you’ll have to do once there. Each team’s relationship will be forever changed by their experience in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Each leg is a non-elimination leg and the teams soon discover that cooperative competition can bear more fruit than a “dog-eat-dog” approach. Building Bridges.

INFINITY An active exploration of team dynamics where key ‘breakthroughs’ in team thinking lead to success, Infinity presents your teams with a series of quick, task-oriented, problem-solving challenges. Each challenge has been carefully designed to explore communication issues and highlight various aspects of teamwork that all too often go unnoticed. In a short time, your teams will understand the basics of effective teamwork, whilst individuals will learn to appreciate how their interpersonal style may affect their team’s performance and success. Infinity can also provide a platform for team profiling techniques such as Belbin and an in-depth review may be used to draw out other useful learning characteristics. That said, we have often found that the activity outcomes tend to speak for themselves and alone can provide a useful backdrop for open discussion.

What will happen during Infinity? Following an introductory icebreaker to warm up both body and mind, your group will be divided into teams ready to follow a tight schedule. Once they understand the desired outcomes of each challenge, your teams must quickly evaluate their available resources (including time, personnel and equipment), set realistic goals and reach a consensus on how these can be achieved. The time slots we allocate your teams will be ‘just enough’ to complete each task, ensuring that your teams are both stretched and motivated by their successes. Having completed each challenge, your teams will be encouraged to review their performance and take their learning forward to the next task. On full completion of their intrepid journey, your group will be reunited for their final challenge.
