Do good design, do good. The designer has for role to fill surfaces which the other people can see daily. Because of that, we have power. Power to control some of pictures and their effects, to control how people will be influenced about our work, for exemple with publicity, photography, drawing ect. The worlds of design could be better and help people to do good things. But a designer isn't always conscient about this, or he knows, but he close his eyes because he needs monney, or simplely he don't care. To begin, what does it mean, be a good person ? Help people who need ? Eat organic food? Share ? Be against

the violence, the injustice and racism ? It's really personal idea, it depend, but for me it's all of this, and more. I don't speak about sacrifice, I think it's very brave to think of the others before himself, but think that all the world could be capable of it, to sacrifice his life, his comfort, his property for the others, it's not realistic. We are human beings, we are all scared and we can see that people who can do this are exceptions. Nevertheless, as designer, we can all make something. It will be good if each person do that in his way. It can be a little thing, if everybody participate it become a big thing.

1) How messages intended to influence the behaviour of large audience are delivered ? 2) How people are portrayed and represent visually ? 3) How raw materials for designed objects are consumed ?

1) Messages are generally presents in publicity. Prints is everywhere, specially in city, and everybody is coming to see us. This is the advantage of the designer, so much people see his work, so he has power in the way of people interprete his pictures and his slogans. If a graphic designer is attached to the human values and what he wishes to urge people to help, to show solidarity and generous between them, he can. For example he can make more powerful, clairvoyant communication for the humanitarian bodies, make that they attract the sympathy and not the suspicion of people. If he has ideas, he is capable of visualising them in a way that they are readable and understandable for whoever, the graphic designer can move the masses. By a beautiful well built picture, impactante, he can persuade a lot of people, sensitive in his own way to bring things. If we have to make a brainwashing, if it works, so much to make it for good ans disinterested causes rather than for fast food or domestic appliances. 3) We consume enormously for years and are noticing risks which it include. The advertising is one of first ways to bring people to consume always more, because its purpose is to attract, with the aim of buying then. While to make, should we, as graphics or advertising executive, to stop that? Difficult because it is our job … But it is certainly possible to advertise always, but to choose our subject, or at least to propose ideas because, are we creative or not ?! To praise the virtues of recyclable, not fatal products to the environment, and even to draw even more the attention of people on the gravity of the situation, all this should be positive.

2) I think personally that the way of people are visually represented improved a lot, we have fewer cliches and advertising sexists almost disappeared, even if the body of the woman is always used in a a little bit excessive way. The models are often too thin on posters, in the parades or the advertisements. This vision of the beauty which try to impose big brands is depreciating and complexante, and engender health problems. It is normal to want charming models physically to emphasize its product or its creation, even if for me everybody could be a model, to a certain extent of course. But it seems to me that a normal person, maked up, dressed and retouched with the ways of today can be beautiful because everybody has a part of beauty. The extreme thinness should be to ban according to me. A graphic designer should'nt have to encourage it, and choose the models according to his own tastes, and not according to the influence of the fashion of moment. In Spain, a law forbids the models below a certain weight according to their size, and the muses, although often thin, are not scrawny as on the catwal. Beauty, elegance and charm are everywhere, not only in the current artillery, and can import the skin color, the religion, ect. Particularly in people who we love: we notice that more one know a person and that we appreciate him, more shebecomes beautiful for us. The graphic designer has interest to try to invert this tendency, to convey healthier messages and especially be more free, open-minded in his work.
