MONDIAL MOTO

A biking legend Founded in 1929, with name of F.B. (Fratelli Boselli), starts building motorcycles in 1948. Immediately known all over the world thanks to its revolutionary engine and extraordinary performance leading to innumerable prestigious racing victories. During the first Motorcycle World Championship in 1949, Mondial takes part in all rounds winning both the riders Championship with Nello Pagani, and the constructors’ title. World Championships, the flying kilometre, sprint races, longdistance races, timed races, hill-climbs, and cross-country events, National, European and World Championships: nothing can stop the Mondial’s riders. Mondial’s history has seen many great motor cycles, like the 125, the 160, the 175 and the 250, as well as legendary riders such as

Pagani, Ruffo, Ubbiali, Provini, Sanford, Villa… and many

others. Mondial records 1948: world speed record for a flying kilometre; 1949–1957: 10 World Championship titles – 5 riders titles (Pagani, Ruffo, Ubbiali, Provini, Sanford) and 5 Constructors’ titles in 125 and 250cc; 18 victories and over 150 point-gaining positions in World Championship races in 125 and 250cc; 8 Italian Constructors’ Championships in 125 and 250cc; 2 Cross-country Racing Championships (Ostorero); 8 National Championships in France, Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom and Holland in 125 and 250cc; 4 Shell Trophies in 125 and 250cc; 1 Tourist Trophy victory; 3 Milan–Taranto race wins; 1 Motogiro d'Italia victory and numerous victories and positions for senior and junior crosscountry races, hill-climbs and timed events. At the end of the 1950s Mondial retired from competitions and closed down its race department. However, the company decided to sell on its glorious (and, by now, almost antique twin-cam) engine. In 1957 Mr. Soichiro Honda bought it and used it for the construction of his new racebike. More than forty years later, Honda returned the favour to Mondial
