1.INCRESED GREENHOUSE EFFECT
When we burn fossil fuels (release carbon dioxide). The increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere traps the sun’s rays, so the earth’s temperature increases.
2. ACID RAIN
Caused by: • •
Buring coal Buring petroleum
3. OIL SPILLS
These happen when: •
Petroleum is accidently released into the sea.
•
Oil tanker accidents
4.NUCLEAR WASTE
•
•
Must be stored in extremely safe conditions. Safety systems are important in nuclear power stations to reduce the risk of accidents.
5.RISING WATER TEMPERATURE
Thermal power stations emit hot water that causes the temperature of river and sea water to rise. This has a negative effect on animals and plants that live in these waters.
6.ATMOSPHERIC POLLUTION
Road traffic and industrial activity emit particles in suspension, heavy metals and gases into the atmosphere.
