OUR GRADUATE PROGRAMS
What’s the Difference Between an MBA and a Specialized Master’s Degree? The primary distinction between an MBA and a specialized master’s degree is breadth versus depth. An MBA is an internationally recognized degree designed to develop the broad-based skills required for careers in business and management.
Alternatively, a specialized master’s degree is designed to provide a deep dive into a specific discipline, such as accounting, business analytics, finance, management, marketing or real estate and the built environment.

You’ll participate in a mountain leadership retreat and travel abroad to work with international organizations. The culmination is a capstone project, where you’ll serve as a consultant to an organization with a genuine business problem. Find Your Cohort. From day one, you’ll build relationships with a tight-knit group of your peers, coming from diverse backgrounds and industries. As you take classes, solve problems and tackle challenges together, your cohort grows into a business network you’ll rely on throughout your career. Connect Through Community. Daniels has deep ties to the Denver community, and our on-site classes ensure that you build new connections and a nucleus of support as you navigate the program.

One half of our faculty have started and/or owned their own businesses and most consult as part of their portfolio. 14
A Face-to-Face Experience. To increase your network beyond the live sessions, you’ll attend two required in-person immersive learning experiences, chosen from a visit to DU’s campus, New York, Seattle, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Singapore and other locations. These multi-day events give you the chance to push your leadership skills further and meet classmates, faculty and alumni in person. You’ll have the option to extend your visit abroad and learn more about global business in that country. An Extension of the Campus Community. As an MBA@Denver student, you’ll be as much a part of the DU and Daniels communities as our on-campus students. You’ll have access to career coaching, academic resources, mentorship programs, student gatherings and more. All students—whether you are on campus or online—are invited to walk across the stage at Commencement to celebrate the hard work that goes into earning a graduate degree.

MICHELLE WYMAN Executive MBA, 2020
The Executive MBA (EMBA) at Daniels is ideal for the experienced business leader. MBA aspirations in early career are sometimes postponed due to professional opportunity and career advancement. When the time is right, our EMBA program prepares students for the second half of their professional lives, which may include advancing to the next leadership level, navigating a career change or exploring an entrepreneurial path. During this 18-month program, you’ll circle back to business fundamentals from a strategically oriented vantage point via a curriculum firmly rooted in ethics and principle-centered leadership. You’ll emerge with a more integrated understanding of business, increased confidence and leadership effectiveness.
I wanted to take my business and communication skills to the next level. I fell into a routine at work and knew it was time for a new challenge of growth and opportunity.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Faculty Mix. Learn more than just theory from faculty who are real-world practitioners. Our faculty come from a variety of backgrounds that include higher education, industry and various entrepreneurial ventures. The mix adds relevance and vibrancy to our collaborative classroom environment. Get Connected. In short, you’ll learn from your classmates in addition to your professors, and you’ll gain access to our deep alumni network, our faculty’s professional connections and our knowledgeable staff.
Experience More. You’re already out there in the real world, so why would we confine all your learning to a classroom? Our EMBA Team Sail Challenge, small-team Social Good Challenge, industry-leading guest speakers and an 11- to 14-day Global Experience are just a few examples of how Daniels puts an executive slant on the conventional business curriculum. Break the Mold. We feature a uniquely differentiated curriculum that includes the fundamentals you’d expect in any MBA program. What you might not expect are subjects like Power and Influence, Neuroleadership, Entrepreneurial Mindset and The Discipline of Execution.
