WELCOME
Welcome to the 14th annual Race & Case Competition, the country’s only business ethics case competition and alpine ski challenge. We, at the Daniels College of Business, are proud to host this premier business ethics and leadership case competition. At Daniels, we value co-created academic experiences that allow students to collaborate and apply critical thinking and ethical decision-making to unique, real-world situations; that’s what we call the Daniels Difference. This is a great opportunity for graduate business students to apply the knowledge they gain in the classroom in a practical and meaningful way and gain helpful feedback from business leaders in the industry. We hope all involved will find this to be an extremely valuable and fun learning experience. As you go through the weekend, please take a moment to thank the many people who have helped put on this event and make the competition a success. From the students, faculty and staff of the Daniels College of Business, to our judges, sponsors and all of the competitors, this event would not be possible without everyone’s time and efforts. We wish the competitors the best of luck and we hope you enjoy the weekend!

HISTORY OF RACE & CASE This unique case competition was conceived in 2003 by students at the Daniels College of Business. The idea was to bring national recognition to Daniels through its distinctive curriculum in a manner which would also leverage the pristine surroundings of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. In midwinter 2004, the students delivered an ethics based case competition and ski race—aptly named Race & Case. For the past thirteen years, top U.S. business schools such as Yale, George Washington, UC Berkley, Boston College and BYU have traveled to Colorado for the chance to compete for cash prizes and take home the Daniels Cup. It is estimated that over 1800 students, faculty, staff, alumni and business leaders have taken part in this experience over the years as competitors, organizers, judges and volunteers.
