Brief
Library
Based on Didot, I edited the G to have curved serifs which resemble the top of an open book, and added lines to resemble pages. The logo is type based, and fits with the library theme.
To create a typographically themed restaurant. My answer is to create a library cafe based as books are made from words and literature, and my designs be completely typographical.
I wanted it to be a luxury website with contemporary features such as full size images, a booking feature and advanced features such as the Northern Lights Forecast and Local Time.

Audience
I decided scarlett would be my accent colour, and the logo and can only appear in this. It is rich, warm and inviting and creates a comfortable tone in the cafe. The black buckram is sophisticated.
The audience will mainly be aimed at maturer For the logo I used Didot, and for all of the bodycopy I used Adobe Caslon Pro. This is a serif students, academics and people who want to work so matches what is used in books and novels. It is or read outside of the home and work environment. traditional and professional.

Concept
Library Cafe
Food and Drink
The concept of the cafe is that it is a place where people can come and read and work and browse through the selection of books there is on offer.
Light food options are avaiable to keep the customers satisfied, but big meals aren’t on the menu because that isn’t the purpose of the cafe and people wouldn’t go just for that.
Bookcase
Donations
I would want the cafe to be filled with bookcases and comfy seats for the customers to pick what book they want and read it.
Customers can also dontate their own books to the cafe in exchange for a free coffee so that the collection can continue to grow.

Bookends
I created a food and drinks menu, backed onto buckram as this is the material used on hardcover books. To secure the menu to the board I wrapped nylon around it, so the menu can be changed.
The same format to the menus, I used buckram to support the pad of paper that staff would write on. This creates a hard back for them to lean on, and the nylon allows the paper to slip out easily.
To keep the brand in context, I created a pair of bookends which would be displayed on the bookshelves at the cafe. They are in the shop of the logo and painted in the same colour.

Coffee Duster
Bookmark Business Card
I screenprinted onto these to keep the brand consistent throughout the cafe, and these would be served when people order food and a drink.
I made a coffee stencil duster which will make a shape of the logo onto coffee foam when you sprinkle cocoa powder through it.
I made the business card into a bookmark because it then has a function for the customer and it ties in with the concept of the library cafe where peopel can come and read.

This shows what the sign would look like outside the shop.
This shows how the logo would look on the shop window when you walked past it.
This shows where the logo would be placed onto the uniform, but it isn’t a very good mock up.

Website
Tablet
Mobile
I have used a page jump to navigate through the website, and kept it simple only using the information that the user would need such as the opening times, address and menu.
I only had to slightly adapt it for the tablet, as there is actually quite a lot of space on the computer version. I took the background image and feel it is fitting as it features books, is warm and a big size.
I adapted the design to fit onto a mobile by changing the format of things. For example, I used three bookcovers on the Books page rather than 5, and a tabbed window for the Menus.
