H&R Block Opens Income Tax Course to Prospective Students Dansville, NY - Speculation about the ever-changing tax code - there were more than 4,500 changes in the past decade - has kept taxes in the news. This, coupled with a recovering economy, is causing taxpayers to want to better understand their individual tax outlooks, as well as explore opportunities for additional income.

H&R Block, the leader in the assisted tax preparation industry, has opened enrollment for its annual, introductory Income Tax Course to the public, including prospective H&R Block professional tax preparers.

Qualified candidates who score 80 percent or higher on the 75 hour course, will be eligible to apply for a tax preparation position in one of the company’s retail offices.

“More than 60 percent of taxpayers seek the assistance of a paid tax preparer,” said Clay Bullers at H&R Block. “Whether someone is considering a career or just wanting to ensure they are claiming all of the credits and deductions to which they are entitled, the tax course is a great path to take.”

All eligible paid tax preparers are required to register with the IRS and they will be required to pass competency exams by Dec. 31, 2013.

Classes are offered at 25 Ossian St. here in Dansville. They are held Monday and Thursday mornings 9 AM to 1 PM starting September 6th.
