What Will 2021 Bring?
I
t was the best of times, it was the worst of times, we all know that 2020 was a very challenging year! The coronavirus pandemic completely upended our society in countless ways, from our social connections, our daily routines, how businesses operate, to the constant worry of you or a loved one getting sick. We started teleworking, parents started teaching their children, and we adopted a communication tool called Microsoft Teams for employees to communicate. People even developed a new
relationship with their kitchen baking their way through stayat-home orders. But we managed to get through it. This year, 2021 will be a much better year! There is so much to look forward to! Here are some cool things to mark on your favorite smartphone or desktop planner. We’ve sprinkled in federal holidays and popular celebrations, plus a few “greeting card” holidays and just-plain-silly days to lighten things up.

THE DANTES FAMILY
true “home town.” However, I have family in Florida and Idaho who I visit often. Tell us about your family? My husband, Darren and I have been together for 33 years. He was born in the Canal Zone, Panama and we met in high school when my father was assigned to Panama. Our life has been quite the adventure and we’ve never worked in CONUS. We began our careers as DODDS teachers in Panama and Germany. When I was accepted in the Palace Acquire internship program with the Air Force, I carted Darren off with me to Alaska with follow on assignments to Korea, Guam and then Hawaii. Darren is a true waterman and is an avid windsurfer, surfer, and ocean canoe paddler. What are your hobbies? I enjoy running the trails behind our house and last year I completed my first marathon.
Laura Dean joined the DANTES team on 6 December 2020 and will be supporting the Europe office as alternate Contracting Officer’s Representative and data analyst for the CENTCOM/AFRICOM AOR.
What’s next? I’m excited about joining the DANTES team. There is so much to learn about the CENTCOM/AFRICOM AOR and I look forward to meeting the support team at the deployed locations.
Where did you work before this position? I worked as the Chief of Education and Training at HQ Pacific Air Forces, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. I was the COR for the joint service contracts with the universities providing college courses at 27 military installations across the Indo-Pacific Command AOR. The best part of the job was partnering with all of the military branches’ education officers to assist students to meet their education goals. I also led a team of force development professionals who provided education and training guidance to nine Air Force bases in Japan, Korea, Guam, Alaska and Hawaii. Where are you from? My father was in the Navy and we moved frequently during my childhood. I started working for the DOD immediately after college and have been assigned to many OCONUS locations since 1993. Because of this I don’t have a

THE DANTES FAMILY
A’donna Hudson A’donna Hudson was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and joined the Air Force Reserves in 2009. Her husband is a prior Active Duty Air Force (Disabled Vet) and they have been married for 12 years. They have two children. Jayden (12) who is an honors student, and Alijah (9) who is their sports MVP! They love to be outdoors, but every state they have lived in have been winter states, so they cannot wait to finally experience all that Florida has to offer. A’donna’s last job was a Wing Education and Training Manager, where she oversaw the training of 1,200+ personnel. She served as the ESO, Training Manager and Testing Facilitator. She is excited to continue expanding her knowledge at DANTES and looks forward to contributing to the team. Lastly, A’donna said “I want to thank my VES team for their warm welcome, it is truly refreshing to know I have so much support. I also want to shout out to my previous supervisor, Beci Hilgeman. I was fortunate to have her as my boss at the 932nd Airlift Wing and now I can finally call her a true friend”.
Debbie Lovelace Debbie Lovelace brings over 30 years of experience in areas of IT, project management and financial management. And if you talk to her, it will not take her long to hear how excited she is for the opportunity to be working (again) for DANTES! Prior to Debbie’s current position, she served as the ePayroll Program Manager for the Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS) for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). In accordance with President GW Bush’s Management Agenda, she managed moving the DoD payroll system to serve other services moving it from serving 250K to over 1M employees. She then became the Director/Systems Manager of multiple DFAS systems to include DCPS. Most recently, she was the Comptroller for Navy Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity (NETSAFA), managing over $2.6B funds for international training. Debbie holds a Master of Science in Business from Troy University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is married with three girls (Kasja, Kadence and Kyleigh). She spends her free time with her family, friends or at church. After years of coaching her kids in ball and cheer, she is ready to get back to her own hobbies again! 7
THE DANTES FAMILY FUR BABIES! Check out the fur babies in the DANTES family!
Jax Check out Jamie Henderson’s fur baby! Jax is a Labradoodle and will be six years old in April. He loves to chase his ball, ride in the truck and take walks. This gentle giant fur baby is also a dare devil! While at Lookout Mountain, he got so excited, he jumped up on the ledge and fell 15 - 20 feet, freaking out Mommy and dad! They took him to the emergency hospital where he only had a bloody nose, cut lip and small laceration on his leg.
