Best Way To Ruin A Program? Wait Too Long To Register!

Don’t let LOW ENROLLMENT cancel your program! Most program cancellations are due to not having enough sign-ups for an instructor to run a class! You should register AT LEAST ONE WEEK before your program is scheduled to begin. More often than not, we receive the most calls for registration after we’ve had to cancel a program. Don’t procrastinate, SIGN UP EARLY!

Volunteer Spotlight

Jann Middleton

Jann and Greta To find out how you can be a Recreation Volunteer visit our registration page at danversrec.com! 3

Jann has volunteered with Danvers Recreation at Endicott Park for three years. She first started volunteering after retiring from 33 years in education as a speech pathologist. With an interest in giving back to the Town and the park she cherished coming to with her son for many years, Jann decided to use some of her free time to volunteer at Endicott Park’s Townley Family Barnyard. Jann's duties started with caretaking for the horses and has since expanded to caring for the entire barn twice a week! Working with Danvers High School in a supervised apprentice program, Jann coordinates student volunteer opportunities for special needs students interested in working with animals. There is “nothing like this” she says of the duties and tasks she encounters at Endicott Park, they all require real-life problem solving skills. Jann’s favorite part of volunteering is being with the horses, being outdoors, and interacting with the public while teaching positive life skills to high school aged students. In addition to the many other benefits of volunteering, it’s also a great workout! In Jann’s words, “I’d much rather be doing this than be on a treadmill!“ Thank you for all you do, Jann!

Discover the Wonders of Autumn with Kathy Dunfee

Discover the wonder and beauty of leaves, wild flowers, acorns, moss and other treasures we may have considered just ordinary before. Join us for weekly nature “treasure hunt” walks to discover the sights, scents, and sounds of Autumn and meet delightful woodland creatures along the way. Combining nature, story and imagination to create fairy houses, gnome homes, pressed leaf/flower art and more is fun! It gives us appreciation for the little things in nature while discovering more of it’s secrets along the way. Nature keeps no secrets, it only requires eyes that see. Parents/guardians should plan to participate with their children! Fee includes a $3 material cost per participant.
