Welcome to the 32nd edition of the Craic in Galway magazine. We have an international flavour for this edition as Galway prepares for the arrival of Boston Mayor, Marty Walsh. He is returning to his Connemara ancestral homeland after his election victory in the US and will be joined by former Taoiseach, Liam Cosgrave, for some of the celebrations. It is a homecoming of sorts too for the former head of state as he also has strong connections to the locality. He went to school in Carna 84 years ago and is making a rare public appearance once again. Local businessman, Oisin Brown, has officially become Galway’s Honorary Vice Consulate to Spain and the Craic was there to see the handover in front of his family and friends. And Norwegian male voice choir with the tongue twisting name, Halvdan Svartes Guttekor, wowed the crowds at O’Connors in Salthill, and all for a good cause. As we hit the streets on Friday, September 19th, the city and county are basking in Culture Night
