MOUNT KILIMANJARO
The Italian government has committed to supporting Tanzania’s efforts to preserve Mount Kilimanjaro and enhance its tourism appeal. The pledge, announced during discussions between Italian and Tanzanian officials, aims to strengthen conservation efforts and improve infrastructure around Africa’s highest peak, a key draw for international visitors. Italy’s support is expected to focus on environmental protection, sustainable tourism initiatives, and capacity building for local stakeholders. As Kilimanjaro remains one of Tanzania’s most visited attractions, this collaboration could help maintain its ecological integrity while boosting visitor experience and accessibility. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote responsible tourism and safeguard natural heritage sites in the region.
BLACK RHINO
With an average of 1,000 visitors per month, Mkomazi National Park in Kilimanjaro Region is fast becoming a popular tourist destination in Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. Home to a special breeding site for Black Rhinos, Mkomazi attracted approximately 7,900 tourists between July 2024 and January 2025. This remarkable increase in visitor numbers is the result of concerted efforts by the government to make key investments in the park. Acting Chief Park Warden of Mkomazi National Park, located in north-eastern Tanzania along the Kenyan border, Dr Emmanuel Macha, revealed the park’s success over the weekend. Dr Macha, whose jurisdiction spans the Same District of Kilimanjaro Region and Lushoto District, also noted that the park is on track to meet its target of 11,764 visitors for the year. The Black Rhino tourism package was launched in July 2021 and since then, the number of visitors has been steadily growing each year.
EXIM BANK
Exim Bank Tanzania has introduced new digital payment solutions to streamline transactions within Zanzibar’s tourism industry. Announced at Z-Summit 2025, held at SUZA University in Tunguu from 19-20 February, the initiative aims to enhance efficiency, security, and convenience for tourism businesses. The bank has partnered with key stakeholders, including Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), to facilitate seamless cashless payments for park fees and other services, benefiting tour operators and visitors. With growing demand for digital transactions, Exim Bank has launched services such as mobile banking, credit cards, and online payment platforms tailored to the tourism sector.
IRINGA
Precision Air has announced a new air travel service connecting Dar es Salaam to Iringa, from March 2025. The flights operate three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—enhancing connectivity between Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Iringa, and beyond through Precision Air’s network and partners. Vuma Hills Tented Camp is perched above the trees stretching over the seemingly endless wilderness south west of Mikumi National Park. It is about 300 km from Dar es Salaam or 4 hours’ drive on tarmac road.
decks overlooking the plains below, beneath the shade of a makuti-thatched roof. It is part of the portfolio of properties belonging to the family-run Foxes Safari Camps. Each of the en-suite tents is elegantly furnished and fitted with all the creature comforts that guests expect of an exclusive safari.
The cosy bar area centres around a roaring log fire, opening onto a large decking area from where you can take

While the overhead thicket covers the camp in a cooler climate, the large swimming pool and palm-frond salas always awaits, especially after a sunrise game drive or guided walking safari.
Here, the animals come and go as they please. It’s the guests who need to be
accompanied by Maasai guides as they move between the camp’s elevated lookout deck and their suites after dark. Bushbaby call echoes through the night. It seems that there really is no final curtain call on a visit to Mikumi National Park. It’s a wildlife experience unmatched, where visitors can witness the full spectrum of southern Tanzania’s incredible biodiversity.
The Camp offers a wide range of activities to the guests that makes it more reliable and unique. Its strategic location
favors more activities the guests can do like:

The Kilimanjaro
Mbio Ya Watu - The People’s Race!
The 23rd celebration of the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon took place this year on the 23rd February 2025 and it was impressive! Record numbers across all 3 events in the Marathon, the Yas Kili Half Marathon and the CRDB Bank 5km Fun Run. A weekend of marathon fun from beginning to end was had by all!!
Set against the backdrop of Africa’s highest free standing mountain, with a route that takes you past some quaint and bustling villages, through beautiful coffee and banana plantations, and then onto a new section over the beautiful old German bridge and back again. Through tree lined avenues and into the grand finale finish of the MoCU Stadium where the applause of 12000 plus people welcome you and you experience the sound of
much laughter, music and get to taste and savour cold Kili Lagers in the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager beer tent and browse through the People’s Expo and the various stalls on show, promoting and selling items from sunglasses, to solar panels, sausages, to fruit juice, Konyagi cocktails and Kilimanjaro water.
The Kilimanjaro Marathon is a unique experience indeed, with something for everyone!
Marathon 2025
The first event in 2003 was pretty small (under 300 entrants) and consisted of a mix of of local and ex-pat runners. Sponsorship was limited and the runners were mostly from the region.
This year’s 23rd edition of the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon took place on a beautiful, clear day and Mount Kilimanjaro showed off most of the morning, before disappearing behind a bank of clouds around midday.
Once again, the focus of this year’s event was to make it more inclusive and for a longer period,
instead of just one day.
‘This year we again had a Race Number collection area to the MoCu Stadium for the 2 days prior to Race Day and to make it more of an experience, we again hosted the People’s Expo. This allowed corporates that normally are not able to participate in the Kili marathon to get involved and take a stand from which to promote their companies, services and brands’, commented John Addison, the Race Director and Founder of the Kilimarathon.
It gave them access to the runners, allowing them to
engage with them as they came to collect their race numbers in a more relaxed atmosphere.’
‘We were delighted with the uptake of smaller businesses getting involved, and with the entertainment they provided through activities, competitions, displays, promotions and giveaways from their tents. This is definitely an area we plan on growing as it allows for a greater overall experience during the Marathon weekend,’ John said.
Our headline sponsor, Kilimanjaro Premium Lager, also created a weekend long

festival atmosphere with their Kili Dome Experience, which show-cased amazing artists and Dj’s, unbelievable animation and graphics for a party that lasted well into the early hours of the morning for the entire weekend!!
Tanzania Breweries Limited Country Director, Michelle Kilpin, said the event had made dramatic strides as it entered its 23rd Anniversary. ‘This achievement has been witnessed by millions across the world. It has been an exciting journey as this is now one of the biggest international athletics events in the region, as it brings together thousands of runners and many more spectators from Tanzania and around the country, whereby this year it drew participants from 56 different countries and showcased
Tanzanian running talent, as we had a number of athletes finish in the top 10 positions this year.’
Today the race day attracts everyone from the Deputy Prime Minister. Hon. Dr Doto Biteko, through to the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, the serious runner, to moms with prams and with distances to suit every fitness level.
John closed by thanking all the sponsors, most of whom have
celebrated 10 plus years as partners to this amazing race. Including special mention to Yas [previously named TIGO] who celebrated their 10 year anniversary as the headline sponsor to the Kili International Half Marathon.
Our sponsors along the route went all out, building spray points and tunnels, handing out food and energy supplements, creating an atmosphere of festive fun with dancing and pulsating African drumming and in return, the participants went full out in their dress ups, from carrying country flags, to wearing various colored tutu’s, to funky hairstyles and costumes – the route was alive with energy and excitement!
This is an event not to be missed!!!

Kadinali: I work from my memories. And I try to recapture a moment, a feeling that I felt then. With my latest work where I have combined photography I obviously used photographs and painting to create the final image.
DL - Where do you feel art is going?
Kadinali: In Tanzania art is going very slow. There
are many beautiful artworks, but the market is unfortunately small.
DL - What is the role of the artist in society?
Kadinali: I think my work is there to show and highlight the ordinary and to make the ordinary special by presenting it in a new perspective in a way. It’s about appreciating the simple things in life.
DL - Do you prefer a perfect smooth technique or a more energetic expressive technique and why?
Kadinali: I like energetic techniques, as using them encourages me to work hard so that when someone looks at my painting, they realize how much goes into painting. I want them to see that it is not easy to be a painter.
DL - What do you think makes your work standout?
Kadinali: I paint with confidence.

Five Hard-To-Ignore Advantages Of Working A Temporary Job
TEMPORARY WORK IS A GREAT WAY FOR UNEMPLOYED WORKERS TO REENTER THE WORKFORCE. IT ALSO GIVES INDIVIDUALS WHO ROUTINELY CLAM UP DURING AN INTERVIEW OR CRINGE AT THE THOUGHT OF NETWORKING THE CHANCE TO SHOWCASE THEIR SKILLS FIRSTHAND ON THE JOB. AND LET’S NOT FORGET, CONTRACT POSITIONS CAN BE LUCRATIVE, WHICH WILL HELP YOU FATTEN UP THAT HUNGRY PIGGY BANK OF YOURS.
By hiring a worker on a temporary basis, employers are able to evaluate your cultural compatibility and get a better understanding of how your individual strengths contribute to the team’s success. These areas are often hard for an employer to gauge solely from your interview.
Here are five hard-to-ignore advantages of working a temporary job:
1.A Chance To Diversify Your Experience
Navigating the workplace as a temp employee allows you to experience different types of positions in a short time period. For recent grads, you can trial different work environments – from a large, brandname corporation to a 30-employee firm.
2.An
Opportunity To Get Your Foot In The Door
Employers use temporary and contract workers for a number of reasons. Oftentimes, companies will allocate a completely separate budget toward contract
positions. These funds can be used to compensate for short-term projects, such as a new software implementation that requires a technical specialist or to cover staffing gaps that arise from an unexpected disability or maternity leave. This is the chance for you yo show your potentials in the field.
3.A Way To Expand Your Professional Network
Industry-related conferences or professional groups are a great way to interact and build relationships with individuals in your field. But you know what’s even better? The bonds you form while actually working alongside your coworkers. These relationships can be tremendously impactful to the future of your career, as you’ll have a group of individuals who can personally attest to the value you deliver as an employee.
4.A Means For Lighting A Fire Under Your Bum
Many of us have fallen victim to the unemployment slump. It happens to the best of us. Mustering up the drive to use your time
productively can be difficult when you’ve become accustomed to a slower routine. However, you can reintroduce yourself to office life and shift your mentality to one that focuses on meaningful, proactive activities. Taking on temporary work in this scenario is a great way to get your productivity level back up while also reigniting your inspiration to start chasing those career goals again.
5.A Transition To A New Career Path
Flexibility and greater autonomy are two of the main factors that drive career decisions for today’s modern job seeker. Many people decide to make contract work a permanent career choice as they crave control over their work schedule, find enjoyment in the freedom of exploring different work environments and projects, and like engaging with multiple employers.

Crdb Bank Announces A Historic Move To Dubai
Celebrates 30th Anniversary
CRDB Bank has entered a new era by expanding its presence beyond Africa. The bank is set to establish operations in Dubai, making it the first East African financial institution to venture into Asia. This strategic move strengthens trade and investment opportunities for businesses across the region.
The announcement was made during the launch of CRDB Bank’s 30th Anniversary celebrations, where Group CEO Abdulmajid Nsekela briefed the Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology, Hon. Jerry Slaa, on this milestone.
Our 30-year journey has been defined by resilience, transformation, and innovation. Technology has been a key driver, enabling us to grow beyond Tanzania’s borders. Today, we take pride in leading the market with financial solutions that foster inclusion and economic empowerment.
By CRDB Bank CEO Abdulmajid Nsekela,
Dubai was chosen as the bank’s next frontier due to its position as a global financial hub, facilitating international trade and investment. This expansion will connect East African businesses to broader markets, creating new growth opportunities.
Nsekela also highlighted CRDB Bank’s financial strength, citing unaudited 2024 results that position it as Tanzania’s market leader. The bank holds total assets worth TZS 16.6 trillion, customer deposits of TZS 10.9 trillion, and loan disbursements of TZS 10.4 trillion. These figures demonstrate its capacity to support major public and private sector projects across the region.
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to customers, shareholders, the government, partners, and all stakeholders for being part of CRDB Bank’s success story. “Your unwavering trust and support have been instrumental in making CRDB Bank the industry leader for the past 30 years. We look forward to continuing this journey together as we expand our impact globally.”
Hon. Jerry Slaa commended CRDB Bank’s achievements and its role in Tanzania’s economic growth. “Reaching 30 years of excellence is a remarkable milestone. CRDB Bank has played a pivotal role
in our economy, and its expansion to Dubai cements its leadership. This move aligns with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of strengthening Tanzania’s global trade presence.”
The Minister also recognized CRDB Bank as a top taxpayer and a key employer, with over 4,000 staff. “Your contributions to financial excellence and national development are commendable. It would be fitting for CRDB Bank to receive a national honor for its impact in Tanzania and East Africa.”
CRDB Bank was founded through strategic financial reforms to strengthen Tanzania’s financial sector. With strong government backing, our mission has always been to expand financial services and drive economic growth.
By CRDB Bank CHAIRMAN Dr. Ally Laay
He emphasized on the Bank’s strong financial performance, which has consistently increased shareholder value, “Since 2010, our share price has grown from TZS 115 to TZS 700—an impressive 509% increase. Our dividend policy ensures at least 30% of net profit is distributed annually, with last year’s dividend reaching TZS 50 per share, a 525% growth since our 2009 listing.”
Looking ahead, CRDB Bank is committed to leveraging technology and strategic partnerships to expand globally while maintaining its leadership in Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Dubai entry marks the beginning of a new era in financial integration, providing East African businesses with direct access to international markets.
The event was capped off with a historic drone light show, illuminating the Dar es Salaam skyline in a breathtaking display that amazed spectators from all
corners of the city. Speaking at the celebration, the CRDB Bank Director of Corporate Affairs and the Managing Director of CRDB Bank Foundation, Tully Esther Mwambapa announced that the anniversary festivities will include a series of activities involving customers, shareholders, communities, and key stakeholders, reinforcing CRDB Bank’s commitment to shared growth and prosperity.

FASHION DESIGNER OF THE MONTH “MUGONZIBWA”
A self-taught person in fashion
As a young girl she would walk to different tailors, collect the left overs and sew little beautiful dresses for the dolls she created out of soil or fabric and sell them.
When the colors mix on a fabric to form bold, vibrant designs, you get a stunning African print. Tanzanian designers are not letting that opportunity pass by, they use all their imagination to create masterpieces.
They are claiming the fashion industry stage from the Swahili Fashion Week in Dar es Salaam to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in South Africa. Tanzanian designers are pushing the boundaries with a simple “Kitenge” leaving masterpieces in their wake.
Every month Dar Life dedicates this section
to young emerging and well-known designers who want to create brands and use the fashion platform as a stepping stone towards achieving their dream. This month we met Mugonzibwa whose ideas in designing clothes and accessories are amazing, you must watch out!
Mugonzibwa has always had a passion for creation since childhood with which the creativity and imaginations has been a tool to improve any situation where she was. As a young girl she would walk to different tailors collect the left overs and sew little beautiful dresses for the dolls she created out of soil or fabric and sell them. beautifying parents ‘ living room was also a task she loved to do, turning old sheets into couch cushion covers.
After obtaining her master’s degree in HRM, a burning desire intensified and in 2016 she totally got involved in the fashion industry. Being a self-taught person in fashion she started receiving bulk and individual orders, thanks to loyal customers who trusted her eye of creativity and design and being a huge support to her since then. The trust they showed sharpened her to be able to execute her plans and grow as a designer.
To her, creating clothes brings and inspires such joy and increases her sense of spiritual connection as art is a form of prayer and our private devotions have an effect on others. She intends to use Nyuzi as a platform to contribute to the fashion and design industry in a monumental way, overseeing seasonal conceptualization and creation of men, women and children’s clothes and accessories.
