SPRING 2025

Following sell-out seasons in London and New York, the brandnew smash hit musical Cruel Intentions is coming to Darlington. Based on the iconic film and inspired by Les Liaisons Dangereuses, it's packed with 90s pop classics including the songs of Britney Spears, Boyz II Men, Christina Aguilera, TLC, R.E.M., Ace of Base, Natalie Imbruglia, The Verve, *NSYNC and many more!

Step-siblings Sebastian Valmont and Kathryn Merteuil engage in a cruel bet: Kathryn goads Sebastian into attempting to seduce Annette Hargrove, the headmaster's virtuous daughter.

Weaving a web of secrets and temptation, their crusade wreaks havoc on the students at their exclusive Manhattan high school. It's not long before the duo become entangled in their own web of deception and unexpected romance, with explosive results…

Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie's natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie's angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history.

Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being 'encouraged' into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police. In his 40s the two universes collided when Alfie made a bid for showbiz success - but unfortunately 30 years of shift-work and being punched in the face quite a lot, had left him with 'a face for radio'. This is the true story of Alfie's big plan to transition from the BBC radio waves to TV star. Could it be done? Or had Father Time decided that his time had passed?

The time is 1897. Mankind is on the cusp of vast technological change, scientific mastery and media innovation. But poised between traditional beliefs, the threat of the unknown and the shock of the new world, an altogether darker fear is emerging. As a new shadow looms large over England, a small group of young men and women, led by Professor Van Helsing, are plunged into an epic struggle for survival.

Stretching from London, through provincial England, to the mountainous wastes of Transylvania, Bram Stoker's timeless gothic thriller embodies the struggle to break taboos, resist temptation and stop the unknown outside becoming the enemy within.

Adapted by Nick Lane, this brilliant, theatrical treatment of Bram Stoker's adventure blends Victorian Gothic with the contemporary, showcasing Blackeyed Theatre's trademark ensemble performance style and featuring a haunting soundscape, powerful performances and innovative design for an exhilarating theatrical experience. Five birthdays. Two unhappy marriages. One possessive mother. It's 1976. Dennis tinkers in his garage, cheerfully indifferent to wife Vera's impending breakdown. Marjorie hovers in the background, making tea and finding fault. Neil has planned a birthday surprise for his wife, but Pam doesn't share his enthusiasm, preoccupied by frustrations of her own.

In perhaps his most emotionally charged play, Alan Ayckbourn masterfully evokes a world of hidden tensions and suppressed hostility. He skilfully navigates the tightrope between comedy and tragedy, guiding us towards an hilarious yet chilling finale.

Based on the 2011 British TV documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, the musical tells the true story of Jamie Campbell, a 16-year-old boy from Bishop Auckland who dreams of being.... accepted.

Jamie is sixteen and lives on a council estate in Sheffield. However, Jamie is a little different to the other teenagers at his school. He harbors a secret dream: to be a drag queen! But first, he needs to find the confidence to be his true self beyond the walls of his home. Although Jamie is terrified about the future, he knows that, one way or another, he will be a sensation. He is supported every step of the way by his loving mum who would do anything for her boy. He also has the love and support of his best school friend who reassures Jamie that his difference is what makes him beautiful.

Despite the bullying, the prejudice, and the public humiliation, Jamie learns to embrace his inner queen and steps into the spotlight... his spotlight.

Tilted Wig and MAST Mayflower Studios presents Spitfire Girls by

Inspired by remarkable true events

'It's built for us, isn't it? The Spitfire. Built for women.'

New Year's Eve, 1959. Decades after answering the call, two women separated by the war meet again as the rain hammers down on the windows of The Spitfire pub.

As we hear their story, we're transported back to a time when female pioneers defied expectations and soared through the skies.

Spitfire Girls is inspired by the extraordinary true stories of the women who dared to fly during WWII and the incredible bond that tied them together.

Funny and heart-warming, this is an untold story of strength, courage and loss. But above all else, hope.

Spitfire Girls was developed with the support of the National Theatre's Generate programme. This production contains themes of war.
